Cool A new dreamer here says hi

      Hello everybody!

I've been checking these forums on and off for over a year now, almost ever since I found out about lucid dreaming. I was never very dedicated to learn though, I had a couple of lucid dreams but they were very short. But then suddenly a week ago I had two of them one night! The second one was also the longest I've had. I had time to explore what appeared to be hallways and rooms leading to a dream version of my home. Eventually though I woke up as I was putting my shoes on. I thought I should have them on when I'm about to go out

Anyway, I decided to register to keep my motivation high and this time I really want to set my mind on this because I usually get bored very easily. I began practicing the MILD technique because it felt like it would suit me best and I also keep a dream journal. Over the last days, however, my dream recall got worse and at first it made me a little worried, but I'll keep trying to improve.

That's about it. Thanks for reading, glad to be here.

Welcome to DV Maltti! Glad you finally decided to join us (even if it took a year )

Sometimes the recall just goes down for unknown reasons, but MILD is excellent for it since you're motivating yourself all the time, which makes you pay extra attention to your dreams in hopes you find something that gives you that next lucid. Have fun and cya around

Trying out MILD? This is how you become skilled at it.

      Welcome to DV!
I am curious, why do you think MILD is the best for you?
Don't let motivation die! You can always think of new things to do in lucids and even during non-lucids, just try to think of your cool dreams when motivation is dropping.

I don't know really. I guess it just seemed the simplest for a beginner like me but that's about the best answer I can give you

I'm very glad you asked though because it got me thinking... Especially in the last few lucid dreams I had, I just knew I was dreaming without randomly doing any RCs or anything. I used reality checks only to make sure that I really was dreaming. Then I found this All Day Awareness DILD tutorial by KingYoshi (can't post links yet, sorry) and it looked like it could be my thing instead.

Although I wouldn't like to rush into other methods without really even getting started with the first one, so there's no harm in mixing these two methods up to my liking, is there?

Go ahead and attack it from all angles. Practice awareness during the day, and use MILD at night. Hold onto the memory of your last lucid dream. Try to reproduce that feeling and state of mind when you MILD.

Good advice Robot Butler. That's what I did and had another lucid dream last night, be it that it was once again a short one.

I do have a problem though. I'm having a hard time falling asleep after waking up in the middle of the night, having written down the main points of my dream. Is this common or is it just me?

Welcome to DV! Doing techniques because you think they suit you is like taking the words right out of my mouth If they fit you they won't become a bother, making LDing a lot more fun. Combining stuff is also great, it increases you chances to become lucid and you get more practice in the same amount of time. Mix it up, try it out, or stick with one technique. It doesn't matter, do what works and make sure it's fun! As for your problems falling asleep: check out my signature. I've made a thread on falling asleep quikly

Sometimes it is easier for me to fall back to sleep if I get out of bed for a few minutes, walk around, have a drink of water, ect. It sounds backwards, but it can help get me back in that, "Going to bed," mindset.

Hey cool, one of the first lucid dreams I had was also in the setting of my home.

      Good luck.

And here is my personal method for lucid dreaming:
