False awakenings that last for weeks or more....

evening all... im fresh blood but ive come bearing a question ive been looking for answers to.... False awakenings.... in the last few years ive become aware of these happening in which i spend days or more believing im awake only to re awaken to find the entire day was actually a dream.... its starting to shatter my concept of reality... these awakenings have reoccurring characters.... almost as if im leading double lives.... i was wondering if such incidents are common and perhaps im just over analyzing and allowing my fear to take over.... any thoughts from those perhaps more experienced than i?

I usually awake from false awakenings pretty quick. And it's probably just mere moments of waking up from my bed in my dream.

      Welcome to Dream Views.

I recommend you get some rock solid reality checks that you can rely on, maybe breathing through your nose while holding it shut with your hand. even if you cant wake yourself up from the false awakenings, you should be able to realize you are dreaming, should help you figure out what's real and what isn't.

As Ksero suggested, be sure to reality check every time you wake up. The more you practice increasing your awareness, the more you will be able to tell the difference between dreams and reality. If a false awakening lasts more than a few seconds, you should be able to figure it out.

On the contrary, that is kind of a gift.
Most of us, struggle for weeks to have false awakenings. You have them without even trying.
If you get used to RC everytime you wake up, you can turn those FAs into LDs

Yes, I agree with Robot_Butler and Ksero about practicing reality checks.

The longest FA I've had was about half a day long. I woke up, went to school, etc. I even had my usual class discussions (a bit hazy). I didn't know it was a dream until a deceased teacher sat next to me at lunchtime in the cafeteria and whispered in my ear "you're dreaming". Lol.

Don't worry too much about it, just practice more reality checks etc. After all, you will always wake up from it, and it may seem like a long time in the dream, but it isn't in reality. I don't suppose you remember ALL the details in the dream? Because for me, FA's (and dreams in general) are kind of like a movie: it seems like it's happening for years, but you are shown only around 2 hours of it, yet you get the gist of the story... I dont even know why I am saying this lol anyway.. welcome to Dream Views!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
