Thread: Hey guys! i think i need help here

hi. my name is Amber. i have discovered LDing only yesterday in an attempt to find some way to control my dreams.

there is no particular reason as to why i want to learn but it really caught my interest. i read up on it and found a few different ways to begin trying to LD. i was going to try WILD, so i lay down in bed relaxed as i had been instructed. as i was laying there waiting for my body to fall asleep, i was thinking of what i should like to dream of.

after about ten minutes i could tell i was in sleep paralysis and a few minutes later i saw a mental image, but as usual when i see them it confused me as my body knew my eyes were closed and i should not have seen anything so i lost it. then when i woke up in the morning all i could remember was that image and no dreams...

if anyone can help me like how not to wake myself up after getting a mental image any information would be greatfully accepted.

Do you keep a dream journal? If not, start one. Every morning, write down all the dreams you remember. You'll notice your recall start to improve quickly. There is also a dream journal system here on DreamViews if you feel like sharing your dreams with the rest of us (of course, if you'd rather keep your dreams to yourself, that's perfectly fine, too).

One of the best tips for remembering dreams consistently is to write daily in a Dream Journal. The act of writing your dreams tells your brain the dream-memories are important to you and to retain them.

However, if you don't remember anything this can be a problem.

If you consistently can't remember your dreams over a time-period than it might be good to set an alarm 20 minutes before you intend to wake up. The alarm should wake you pu while still in a dream period allowing you to retain more of the dream-memory. When you wake do not get up immediately. Lie in bed with your eyes closed and allow your mind to relax and remember the dream elements. With luck you should recall much of your dream(s).

I applaud you for doing some research. It's great when a new member arrives prepared for class. Still, there is a lot to know and understand. WILD isn't always easy to start with, and it can be quite difficult to achieve right when you go to bed at night. For most people it works better after a few hours of sleep with a brief waking period in between sleep events.

If you're going to attaempt WILD I might suggest adding in a WBTB (Wake-Back-To-Bed) after five hours or so.

Working on dream signs and writing in a Dream Journal can really help the effort. Put in the extra time and allow the dreams to become memorable and important to your mind before diving into WILD. You can find information on all of this in our WIKI.

i am starting a dream journal tonight actually i already have part of a dream i remembered in it but of course i woke up about 45 minutes after i fell asleep so its not much of a dream. however i am still determined to do this so thanks for the help
