New Here. Recently Experienced First LD

      Hi everyone,

I just had mt first lucid dream. I stumbled upon some information online about lucid dreaming when I was looking for information about sleep paralysis. When I started reading all the sites about LD I was very skeptical. The more I researched, the more I started to see some plausibility to it. So I tried it. I started by doing reality checks every half hour and starting a dream journal. I figured the best thing I could do is constantly question whether I was awake or dreaming and analyze things in my every day life that I knew were real. Also I focused on an objective for when i entered the dream. I tried to come up with the most simple objective i could think of. I decided that if i became lucid. I would simply look down at my feet. Thats it. I was pleased with the results of this method.

When the dream started, I was in a room that I recognized but had never been in. There was a woman and a man discussing a painting hanging on the wall. As I listened to them I realized that the room was an office that I had seen in a tv show. That was my queue. Once I realized this had to be a dream I looked down at my feet. After that, the man and the woman were yelling at me and telling me to leave. I was startled by this and turned around to leave. As I walked through the door, I slowly woke up.

As stated earlier, I was a skeptic. After what happened last night, I have no doubts about lucid dreaming. I plan to exercise and practice lucid dreaming as much as possible. If anyone has any tips or suggestions, please let me know.

Thank you and I hope to hear from some of you!

Congratulations on your first LD! As you are new to Lucid Dreaming, I would suggest you try the MILD technique. It is usually best for beginners (I'm trying it out myself but haven't gotten any results yet) and i suppose its one of the easier techniques, as well. I hope you have fun with your LDs in the future! Remember to practise reality checks, and stabilization in waking life so that it may carry over into your dreams and gives you more of a chance to become lucid. There are many threads over this site that will help you a lot!

      Good luck, and happy dreaming!

It is pretty cool that lucid dreaming doesn't require any belief. It doesn't matter if you are skeptical, or not, because you can experience it yourself pretty easily. I wish more things in the world were so accessible.

      Welcome to DreamViews!

Congratulations on the first lucid dream! It really is a great feeling when they occur. With a little practice you should experience them more often!

We have some great tutorials here. I can suggest reading over the section of the forum called Induction Techniques, a subsection of the Attaining Lucidity section of the forum.

We also have guides on Reality Checks and Awareness techniques.

If you have any questions please feel free to post in the forum or send a staffmember (like me) a private message by clicking on our profile name and using the links that pop up.

      Pleasant dreams!
