      Hey everyone!

      Hello to everyone on DV.

My name is Maurice, 18 years old. My first occasion of sleep paralysis made me sign up to this forum so that I could learn more about this whole LD deal.

      About me:
I'm an average guy, started attending college this year but I chose my study in a rash manner because I didn't want to work. Now I ended up quitting that study and I'm working for a year, at the mcdrive lol. In my free time I like to play games, but not a lot or it gets too boring. I take kickboxing classes two times a week and I love it.

What I hope to attain by learning how to lucid dream:
      • Self-enlightenment
      • Wisdom
      • Adventurous times
      • Escape from reality

      Cheers,
      Athylus

      Welcome Maurice!

I actually also started out to experience those things. However in my time of practise I have learned a few things.

Self-enlightenment is to realize what we are and that we already can be it if we start being it! Don't try to be things, be it! That's the paradox...

Buddha never became enlighted, he just realized that he already was.

Don't try to find way to be lucid, be it! To understand this you need wisdom.

"the fool don't thinks he is wise but the wise man knows himself to be a fool" - Shakespeare

When you are wise you will probably hear people say it to you, but unless you let the ego explode in your head you will youreslf not think you are wise because you realize something.

You are never going to be any different from the others, you are both the same being and all a part of ONE big united force that is called many things.

Now think about this video: Patch Parables 8 ~ Adventures of the Reluctant Messiah - YouTube

So the only thing that differs is that the so called "wise man" has own experience and anyone can get that, it's just a matter of intent and will of understanding and an awareness of the self.

As one gathers this experience, one will have many adventures but the important thing is to learn from them primarily.

By doing this yes one escapes from reality, but when one understand WHY his purpose (for now) is in the physical world that we call "reality" he will understand that his path for now is here.

I hope you enjoyed my little interpretation of your goals, but remember that it's only my truth, when you experience and find your own, that is your knowledge and wisdom.

If need any help in your lucid dreaming practise just ask and I will be happy to answer you.

      Namaste. Inlakesh.

      Hello mastermind,

You can be a lot, but there's also certain limits to the human body... but not the mind, I'm well aware of that!

Thanks for taking the time to interpret my beliefs and make such a big post, feels like a big welcome. I've read all of it and enjoyed doing so! My quest to obtain knowledge and wisdom will continue from here, possibly a new episode in my life.

Thanks Mat! Entertainment is also a big reason of course, adventure is entertainment for me also. Thanks, I will.
What's the easiest way to enter a lucid dream from your own experiences? I've read around a bit and DILD and WILD seems attractive to me. I can recall up to two dreams an evening most of the time but I never do my RC there, although many times in real life I do. I'll keep trying though.

@ Athylus. There are people that it is easier to do both methods. I would recommend trying both so that you can figure out which one you are best at. Give them a long trial before giving it up, and make sure you read enough to know what you are doing and not just going at it half way.
I will not recommend a certain technique, but I will say that in my own opinion you need to start with:

7-8 hours of sleep a night
(more if you want)(a little less won't kill you, but don't do less every night)

      Dream Journal
      (the obvious reason is obvious)

      Resolve
(You are going to be amazing at LDing, but everything worth doing has its own adventure on how you got there, this is the start of yours)

Welcome to DV! Hope you enjoy your stay!

I am glad that you liked it.

Here we go again. ^-^ The best way to induce a lucid dream.. Ok think like this, if there was a perfect way, why does it exists hundreds of different "methods" to induce a lucid dream, shoudn't it just be one guide as a sticky then so everyone could master it in a blink?
The thing is that there is no BEST way to induce a lucid dream, however there are many good ways to learn the best way for YOU.
I used one example of riding a bike when I explained WILD to one member, but now I will use that again.

Balance is a natural thing we practise when we want to learn to ride a bike. Do you read guides in order to learn this?
Partly yes because your mother and father might try to describe to you how it's like, or perhaps if they don't you have to read somewhere...
But the thing is that there is one direct way and there is an indirect way.

The direct way is to just try to ride the bike over and over with no help, and you will fall many times and perhaps get very frustrated unless you can keep a calm mind. The indirect way is when your parent is attaching a stick to the back of the bike so he/she can help you with the balance and you'll naturally learn in time how to do it on your own.

Ok that's all for that example, let's explain what each example mean.

To learn to ride the bike = To learn to induce an aware dream on your own.
      Your parents = Your Brain
The direct way = WILD Technique
The Indirect way = DILD Technique
The Stick Attached to the Bike = REM-Sleep
And last but not least, the balance = Either the balance of the system in the brain that partly can explain lucidity and critical thinking or to make it easy and not go into too much detail, the balance is just your awareness in the physical reality world or the non-physical dream world.

So yeah you can start out with the cool and badass WILD technique instantly, but if you don't understand how the balance feels it will be very frustrating and difficult. So as a beginner I recommend to start out with the DILD technique just to learn how the non-physical world feels like.
Because your awareness is slightly different and it's good to know that feel.

Then when you feel that you want to try the WILD, you can begin by using awareness as support wheels until you find the balance and you can remove them and ride the bike on your own.

There are only two ways to enter a lucid dream, the indirect or the direct way, but there are many variations on these techniques that is called methods.

MILD is a variation of DILD and DEILD is variation of WILD. So you have to find what you like the most.

But to make this a little more substantial, read up on the most basic methods and practise the ones that inspires you.

And last but not least, always ask when you need help because I am kind of trying ot understand the mechanics of the bike

Hey again MasterMind, thanks for explaining lucid dreaming with the bike as example; I feel like I understand it better now.

I'll be using the DILD method first then, and try to drastically improve on my ADA.

Once again thanks for going out of your way to create these long posts!

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!

Thanks. 2K+ sounds insane, but it is spread out over 25 years. This year I will hit maybe 150-200 but less in the past. Stick to this your whole life and you will also get thousands of them. Have fun learning, it is a very exciting time in the process.
