I think that the most common nightmares are the ones that are caused by stress or emotional turmoil. Of course watching scary movies can do it as well.
Since you said that you are getting off drugs (YAY!) I would say that can be quite a stressful and emotionally draining time, so it does not surprise me that you would have a nightmare.
Evil presence, very common in nightmares. I do believe in evil spirits, but most nightmares seem to involve the feeling of an evil presence. This feeling I think is a result of expectation, you think there is something evil, so then it feels like something evil.
After your dreams you can still have the feelings you had in dreams, it is all in the mind, so it can transfer over. I cannot remember the name, but I often wake up when I am hurt and the pain lingers for a while. I once woke up and I could feel someone in the room (not evil, just the presence of another human, not an easy feeling to describe, but everyone knows what that the room feels a bit different when you are alone to when you are with someone (just like the feeling of someone watching you), that is why you are so freaked out when someone is near you when you feel alone). The feeling wouldn't go away so I checked the room and then went to bed.
This is my opinion though. It might be something else like an evil spirit or something, but I do not believe this to be the case. Hope this is of assistance. If not then just ignore me.
EDIT:
Also not being able to move can happen like Gab said^^^ most people have experienced this, and coming out of a nightmare would be the worst time for it to happen. This would contribute with the dream feeling sticking with you when you wake up since you are in between awake and asleep.
