      Hello, My name is Steve

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum. My real name is Steven, and I am from US, specifically Michigan. I have been lurking here for a couple months and have decided to join. I started lucid dreaming about 2 months ago and have had 2 lucid dreams since then. The first one was short lived due to excitement and the second one was a blast. I decided to join this forum because I have had some bad luck in telling a couple friend about my dreams. I am a strong believer in science and stuff with hard facts and so are my friend but when I told them about dream control, and lucid dreaming they shunned me. Has anyone else had this problem with people?
Anyways I look forward to talking with you all.

Lmao they shunned you? Then f*** them. You can't call people like that friends.

There will always be those who choose to remain ignorant. Try making friends with those who are open to new ideas and willing to learn.

Lucid dreaming is scientifically established, it is not questionable nor a theory. If your interested in learning more about LD'ing in an academic sense I highly suggest reading about Stephen LaBerge and his LD research institute based in California. He conducts various experiments with LD practitioners and even developed a technology that helps induce lucid dreams based of analyzing your brain waves.

When I tell people about LD'ing they either take great interest, or fear it may have the negative effects of hard drugs. Its because LD'ing isn't really that popular yet and when people hear about it they react with disbelief because it is a paradox when you think about it.

Welcome to Dream Views SteveXD! I hope you get a long well here and have many Lucid Dreams.

I've told a few of my friends and some of them thought it sounded awesome and wanted to know how to do it and some of them said "ok, whatever". Maybe you should only tell people who you think are open minded enough to care. After I told one of my friends about it he started telling everyone and he had a few people ask him what kind of drugs he was on

What part of Michigan do you live in? I live in Michigan too and know a couple Stevens. You probably aren't one of them, but you never know.

      Welcome to Dremviews!

Unfortunatelly, lucid dreaming is met with disbelief and even fear. You have to really think twice to whom you tell about it.

That's why it's so awesome that this community exists. Please look around and post your questions or experiences. Happy dreams

Lucid dreaming was once told to have been proven by Stephen LaBerge, and well it was accepted, but then for some reason they later on said that it wasn't valid.

It kind of shows the roller coaster of science... However it doesn't matter if Einstein himself said that lucid dreaming was possible because of this and this.

Because it is only proven to you when you experience it yourself!

If your friends doesn't believe you, it's their loss. Because in my eyes exploring different states of consciousness, is the most valuable experience you can have!

Lucid dreaming in itself can help you understand yourself, change yourself (if you want to) and of course be very entertaining.

Let your friends sit with their primitive Playstation 3, Wii U, Xbox Kinect while you got access to the whole capacity of your brain. xD

But no.. Approach them with love and offer your help when you know how, and if they aren't interested by then, just say "It's your choice."
Enjoy your stay! And if you ever need any help, don't be afraid to ask. Sweet dreams

Hello Steven and welcome to DV.

I was in the same boat as you.
All my friends (my best friend in particular) are strong believers in science and hard facts like myself.
I found the solution to the disbelief in telling my friends the science behind lucid dreaming and how it works, after all, they have all dreamed, so they can relate to the whole "virtual reality" thing when they actually remember a dream afterwards.

I don't care what people believe when i tell them about lucid dreaming, after all, they are the ones missing out, and at some point my friends started getting curious because they noticed that i was holding on to the concept.

So i guess if you stick to it, your friends will begin to question why you would "hold onto something that isn't possible" if you know what i mean. They will think there is something to it, since you don't stop doing it/talk about it.

      But again, explain the science.

Basically the part of the brain that deals with logic and rational thinking (i think it's the front of the brain) shuts down during sleep. A lucid dreamer will try to trick that part of the brain into "waking up" during a dream, thus making you think like you would while awake, applying your own will.

I know the above is lacking scientific terms, but hey, google it. xP

      I hope this helps!

While Mastermind is showing a bit more leniency I am not forgiving when it comes to this sort of thing. If your friends actually did shun you because you shared with them an interest then never speak to them again, don't even look at them they are trash.

      Welcome, Steve!

Lucid Dreaming has a lot of scientific date/experiments that back it up. Learn more about it and research it and explain it to your friends. Explain to them that lucid dreaming has scientific proof unlike OBEs, shared dreaming, etc.

Anyway, good luck getting into it! Hope to see you around

Steve, you and I are alike in terms of seeing the world from a perspective completely related to science. If someone bases his views on science alone, I do not see why he or she can not believe in the possibility of lucid dreaming. In that case they are just people who are ignorant or prejudiced. I do not share at all the points of view of people who think they can share a dream or the like, but then in those cases I just do not comment, because after all the dreams are influenced by the beliefs of people who experience them . Good luck in your lucid dreaming purposes.
