Hello to all my fellow dreamers~

Hello there, I'm Rook. Let me just start by saying that I'm pleased to have found this forum and all of you! While I've sort of experienced lucid dreaming, all of them have been short or characterized by a lack of control on my part. But I must express delight (and considerable awe) in that lucid dreaming can be brought to such a higher level, especially discovering all the resources and techniques you've put together!

As for me and my background with lucid dreaming...
For the most part, my experiences have all been accidental, without my intentions or control to guide/induce them. A couple of years ago or so I discovered that my dreams were being interrupted by me becoming aware I was dreaming. I'd wake up almost immediately, but not before feeling a bit confused and uncomfortable with the realization. They'd usually come and go as they pleased -- there were often months in-between each occurrence. I later came across a name for these experiences by chance when web surfing: lucid dreaming. I really should have looked more into it, as I probably would have found this site earlier... But, I'm here now.

The reason I searched for some information on lucid dreaming (and thus found this website) is because this past week I've been becoming aware in my dreams again. A couple nights ago I suddenly became aware, and I could feel myself waking up. While the dream I was in was still fairly real and taking place around me (although fading fast), I was deciding whether or not to open my eyes and finally decided to go for it -- and it was quite an amazing feeling, actually, being fully aware before you wake up and then waking up with that same awareness.

Last night I had another lucid dreaming experience, again involving me becoming aware and starting to wake up. This time, however, I think what caused me to become aware was that the dream was ending. Instead of willingly choosing to end the dream, I panicked and tried to cling to it. I did, for a few seconds, but the result was strange. In my dream, I had been reading, and the book had been making sense. Then the sentences started to repeat themselves and make less sense (descending into gibberish) as I got closer to waking up, and the book suddenly became about dreaming, sort of like this:

"And then he looked up and he saw his dream and he dreamed she dreamed he dreamed of his dream he dreamed he and she dreamed dreamed."

So yeah, the dream ended and I was a bit disappointed. Although frustrating and confusing at times, this all very fascinating to me. Hopefully with some practice I'll be able to master the art of lucid dreaming... and actually be able to do something with it for once. I'm quite excited to join this community of dreamers, and look forward to learning a few things from people far more experienced than me.

also, I must apologize for my rambling. My excitement has gotten the better of me, heh.
