      Hello Dreamers!

Hi, I'm 23, female and live in the UK.

Ever since I found out about lucid dreaming a few years ago I've always been curious to try it. Although reading about night terrors has put me off- is it true that I could get them while trying?
Anyway I decided I will risk it.

I've always had quite vivid memorable dreams and can remember some from years back. Sometimes my dreams affect my whole day, not usually nightmares just bad dreams. So I would like to try and sort that out too.

I've has false awakenings lots of times before and once I "woke up" and heard music playing and people moving around the house (I was alone) but couldn't move and just fell back to sleep. I'm not sure what that was.

Also when I have nightmares sometimes I pick up a tv remote or xbox controller in my dream and I can press pause and it ends. That's lucky for me but weird at the same time.

Going to read up on lucid dreaming now, this forums great!

Night terrors, you mean sleep paralysis? They are very rare, and very short, and very harmless. On the contrary, lucid dreams give you the ability to stop nightmares!
False awakenings are great! Just make a habit of reality checking(like close your nose and try to breath, if you are dreaming you will be able to breath) each time you wake up, so when you have a FA you become lucid!

I fill my heart with fire, with passion, passion for what makes me nostalgic. A unique perspective fuels my fire, makes me discover new passions, more nostalgia. I love it.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

If you didn't have sleep paralysis yet, you are not likely to have it from lucid dreaming. And, there are induction techniques when you go to sleep normally, as you would any day.

If you need any help, just ask. Happy dreams

      Welcome, Z3r0!

There's definitely no need to worry about night terrors (parasomnia) - that's a sleep disorder, and it's very rare in adults. Lucid dreaming certainly won't cause it.

It's great that you can already remember your dreams vividly!
Keeping a dream journal is a helpful practice for lucid dreaming - you can start one here: http://www.dreamviews.com/blogs/

It's nice to have you here, let us know if you have any more questions!
