      Greetings from down under!

      Hi everyone,

I'm from good old planet earth, living in Australia.

I used to get a few LDs a year back in my school days, most of them were WILDs and some were natural, I didn't put a lot of effort into it back then. Recently I decided I would work hard to get back into lucid dreaming and work towards getting a lucid a night! So that's my goal.

My dream recall is a bit random at the moment, it's the only thing I was concentrating on for the last couple months and I had almost a month where I could remember 1 dream a night but since I started practising mindfulness meditation and ADA to get LDs, my recall for the past week has been terrible, I remember that I had some dreams when I wake up but no details, it's funny because I thought mindfulness would help remember.

It got frustrating not remembering any dreams over the last week so last night I set a countdown alarm for 5 hours and got a WILD almost immediately after waking up, it lasted about 30 minutes but I woke up a couple of times during it and had to get back into the dream. I think this is because I was too excited and took control too early, next WILD I will go with a flow for a bit longer before taking control and see how that works out.

I look forward to chatting with other lucid dreamers, experimenting and coming up with techniques and maybe meeting fellow Aussies!

Current favourite LD method - WILD
Average dream recall - 1 dream a night
MILD mantra - "I will be aware of all my dreams"
Goal - to LD every night

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Recall fluctuates, sometimes for no apparent reason. Sometimes it's stress, change in sleeping schedule, or anything else...

The good news is, that it always comes back. If you do your part, that is. Best tool is keeping a dream journal. When you wrote your dream, you thinking about them, and that let's your mind know, that your care about dreams and remembering them. We have a nice DJ systeme here on the forum. Give it a try, if you wish. Happy dreams

      Hey, thanks!

I do keep a DJ, I filled it up pretty well for a month but the past week I could only recall the feeling that dreams happened, but no actual details. =[

Going to try the method of writing down / recalling the things that occurred during the day and see if that helps.

Happy dreams to you too! =]

Also, if no recall, wright down anything else that you remember. You say, you know you had a dream. Write that down. "I had a dream". "My memory is great and recall getting better every day". If you remember anything, like "oh, there was something about a building, or red color, or I felt good..." write that. Happy dreams

Be positive and know, that no recall is normal, and it will be over soon.

      Welcome!
Sounds great to me And I really like your goal of having 1 LD/night - seems ambitious but reachable which is good. Don't worry too much about your recall. It will definitely go up if you are consistent and set your intention to remember as many dreams as possible.

Good luck and lots of fun in your upcoming WILDs!

      Thanks!

I know it won't be easy but it'll be worth it! Might as well make the most out of our sleep time. =P

Good luck with your LDs as well! =]

Hiya Memm - could the poor dream recall be the heat?!! ha ha I'm from NZ, though currently based in the UK, and it looks like its been sweltering in Oz at the moment - though I guess it depends where you are. I remember one person posting that he thought recall always plummetted when the temps went up - so maybe theres some truth in it...

I use a countdown clock for wbtb's and for other ways of inducing LD's and others on this site have used it very successfully for DEILD's - sounds like a potentially successful technique for you to keep working with - congrats on the lucid!

      Hey, thanks!

It might partially be the weather, also I've been oversleeping a bit the last week, maybe staying in bed too long has been causing a decrease in quality REM, just a theory.

I hope the countdown clock keeps working for you too! I find WILD is the most stable method for inducing LDs, the only down side is having to wake up in the middle of the night and the optimum countdown fluctuates (at least for me). Maybe there's some way of calculating how long to set the timer for depending on sleep patterns.
