Just learned of this stuff about 6 days ago and am excited.

      Personal Info:
      I'm 30 years old
      Married
      We have one son
From and Live in Northern Utah

Just found out about lucid dreaming 6 days ago and I am fascinated by it. Little bummed I haven't experienced anything yet. I know it can be a slow processes but its hard knowing if I am taking steps in the right direction which is why I came here, but I will take my questions to the appropriate forums.

Welcome to DV! Glad you found this place. You will need to keep a dream journal to get into the habit of writing your dreams down. This will get your dream recall up, which is crucial for lucid dreaming. You can also join the Intro Class so that you can keep track of your progress; the people around this website can also help you if you have any questions.

      See you around the threads!

Welcome to the wonderful world of lucid dreaming. Although it may take a little while to get your first lucid, stay positive and KNOW that it will happen. In fact, expect it to happen every night you go to sleep and eventually it will.

Here is something that helped me get started (though I am still new at it) -
Next time you run into text in a dream, concentrate on what it says. Supposedly we cannot read text in dreams. That is unless it is a single word or familiar logo (like the name of a store). Now when I run across something I tell myself, I need to remember for when I wake up.

Welcome! You've come to the right place. Take a good look at gab's links, DV is large and getting a grasp of where to find things can take a while.

Realize that like anything worthwhile in life, it takes dedication and time and effort to get really good at it. The brain is an amazing adaptable thing, and it learns best by repetition and constant effort. Keep at it, the lucids WILL come if you follow the fundamentals, and the longer you work on it the better and better it keeps getting. "The only difference between frequent [non-natural] lucid dreamers and those who aren't is that the frequent dreamers didn't give up in the beginning." Start with dream recall, as good recall is the basis for enjoying your dreams and getting lucids, too!
