Thumbs up Questioning How To Question Reality - Technique In Progress - Welcome

Hey There, So I'm new here, and relatively new to Lucid Dreaming and I need some guidance on how to purposefully obtain lucidity. I have trawled a few threads on here, along with various other websites, trying to find a way to obtain this but have so far had little luck! If you can link me anywhere specifically that would be awesome or better still talk me through it!

I know that I CAN do it as I unintentionally did so when I was a lot younger and didn't even know what it was! My first proper experience, ironically, was after watching South Park's Imagination Land episode and I realised I was dreaming whilst in a nightmare and found a door out! this only lasted for a short amount of time but genuinely has stuck with my along time and recently I have found myself very motivated to achieving it again!

As far as steps I have taken to try and achieve this, I first tried listening to Hypnosis cd's that were designed to endure lucidity but to no, rememberable, avail. For the last few days I have been trying reality checks and still nothing, in fact, my dreams are if anything quieter than usual which is rather annoying!! Tonight I am trying waking up in the night to try and induce a lucid dream but I'm not to confident.

      (**IDEA**) - Please help critique

I have read in a few places that objects in pockets are a good way of keying your mind to the idea of being asleep. Along with the idea that time changes in dreams alot and having a dream check routine. so I have decided that every time I check my phone I will check the time, ask if I'm dreaming, Pinch myself and then check the time again.

Does anyone think this will work? and any tips on getting yourself to question your consciousness?

Thank you for reading this, and please discuss your thoughts I am really keen to talk about this as I think it will really help my progression and perhaps yours too! :-)

P.s Sorry for the Brain Sploosh, I promise my next thread will be much more organised!

Hey Bexley and welcome to dreamviews the best forum for LD!

I don't know if you have already looked into the Introductions but if not here are some helpful links about induction techniques, RC's and so on:
      Induction Techniques
      Dream Signs
      Staying Lucid

      More details:

I think your reality check isn't quite good because I don't think you're gonna dream much about your phone or rather always have your phone with you. It#S better to question yourself what time and day it is and then go check it somewher but I prefer the phrase 'Am I dreaming?' to question myself all the time and if something is really weird I do other RC's like hold my breath and if I can still breathing I know that I'm dreaming. Useful for the beginning but when I have my nightmares that method doesn't function anymore... That's why I like to focus my attention on my atmosphere and surroundings more because in dreams there are always a few things which are totally different from reality And thanks to that it was easier for me to becoming lucid in my dreams more often.

I hope my answer was a little bit helpful for you and good luck and success on your LD journey!

      Sweet dreams

Your plan sounds solid to me. As far as reality checks are concerned, it took me about a month of doing them before I started doing them successfully in dreams. My favorite is seeing how many fingers I have, but they're all good. When I question whether or not I'm dreaming, I generate a genuine belief that right now really could be a dream. Then the only way to be sure is a reality check. Without sincerely considering that right now could be a dream, no matter how real it seems, I've missed many lucid opportunities due to rationalizing why I could breathe with my nose plugged / why I had telekinesis, etc. But sometimes it has worked and I've just been really surprised, but that's not as often.
