That is a very interesting story. Unfortunatelly all I can say, that maybe same way one day you started having lucids without effort, same way it just suddenly stopped.
Most of us have to practice and put a lot of effort into having lucid dreams. I'm pretty sure that's how you can get your lucids back. Especially since you say you had 1-2 since then. So you didn't lose the ability.
Did you sleep schedule changed? Or anything happened in your life that would make you not think about dreams as much or you don't get enough quality sleep to remember them?
I did have a few dreams within dreams, when I went to sleep in one and woke up in another lucid. But here on the forum, most of us believe that those are just regular dreams, not a dream "within" or "layered" one.

I think your lucids were DILDs - when in a dream you realize you are dreaming. So I would start practicing DILD and read the RCs tutorial for more info.
