      Greetings from IndigoRose

Hi! I am happy to be here.

I used to be a lucid dreamer as a kid and as a teenager. I experimented with dream control as a kid (I remember thinking if it is possible to change something in dreams and later trying it and succeeding. But as for many people, my LDs become rare with age.

I've learned the term lucid dreaming in my twenties but did nothing back then to get better at them.

Then, in my thirties, one day in a lockdown, I was thinking that I hadn't had a nice epic dream for a long time. And decided to read a little bit about lucid dreaming.
At first, it was all very confusing and I had trouble relating. I also had worries about losing the connections with dreams that I have (or used to have) and replacing them with learned LDing stuff. Like nobody told me when I was a kid that mirrors are weird in dreams (why should they?). Or that things will be different than I remember them because I read how they are supposed to be.
But I've dived in and I love it.

I read a lot, I love Dreamviews as a resource. I've spent long evenings reading old threads here. Thank you for being such a good and long-lasting community. I've also spent ages reading about sleeping, sleep phases, checking science about LDing etc. (I like to study a lot when I get into something).

In the last two months, I've had my successes and I've had my struggles. From sleepless nights to mornings of euphoria after a LD.
I am looking forward to whatever LDing brings for me and I am looking forward to discussing my experiences here.

Welcome to DreamViews! Happy to have you here. You seem like me, I tend to get very obsessed with subjects, too, and lucid dreaming has been no exception. Feel free to check out the book club, and/or the lucid tasks of the month and year. They are so much fun. And don't forget to set up your dream journal. It's always fun to read new lucid experiences from people who are just starting out, or starting again.
Check out what's happening on Dream Views:

I think it was HumbleDreamer's dream from the party thread, causing this. I am actually afraid of ants and when I read about his dream, I found it quite disturbing.
You mean you have Myrmecophobia? Are you sure you don't have Entomophobia too? One of best part about lucid dreaming is that you can work on your overcoming your fears. It may take work and your own mind power but, I know you can do anything you can put your mind to. Like try to make friends with them. I control them in my dreams and that is what I do.
Of course, this is solely something that is up to you, though. Nobody here is forcing you do it!

How did you come to that conclusion? Or is there is something else going on here?

Welcome to Dream Views! I am glad you have found lots to read here. Reading on here is very stimulating as far as dreams go. the ant thing is a good example; you read something here and your dreams often incorporate things you read. A good example is the Task of the Year thread. It is about super powers. I have only completed two of the tasks, but have had a dozen or more super hero dreams which is not my norm. Humbledreamer has a good point in the fact that dream work can be used for many things beyond just enjoying the freedom of flight. You can explore anything that is in your head.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

It's not a real phobia more like I don't like them when there are too many of them. Worried that some get on me and bite me. I also don't like wasps and other biting insects but you usually don't see hundreds or thousands of wasps and one wasp is ok, just annoying.
Interestingly, my dream about ants wasn't too disturbing. I just don't have nightmares anymore, I am too relaxed in my dream for that.

By epidemic, I mean that both I and Moonage had a dream about ants after reading about your dream about ants.
As Sivason said, it's just that - reading about it and our subconscious picking up things. I love noticing these little things.

Thank you for clearing that up! I knew that our subconscious picking up things. I'm glad you don't have a phobia for that. In the dream, Moonage, dared me it shrink the party down into the anthill. Yes, even I've strange dreams about bugs, sometimes.

      Sorry, For the misunderstanding.
