      New dreamer!

Hello everyone! I'm just getting to know lucid dreaming and I'm so excited I can be part of this still unexplored world. I read many LDs that other users wrote and I really want to be able to LD too!
I read about the WILD and DILD + dream signs recognition and reality checks.. I never had a problem to dream so I decided to start a dream journal like you suggested. Today is day 3.
I tried using wild while napping and I think I got to the sleep paralisys but couldn't go past it...maybe I'm trying to force it too much?! I can't wait to LD!!!! any hints?

Yeah, you can force a WILD just by constantly thinking, "Why hasn't my LD started yet?" in the middle of your meditative state. You probably started to feel sleep paralysis- but if you get full on SP you will more than likely know. Anyways, most people don't do very well WILding in a nap. Some people can do great with this technique, but it isn't often.

It is great to see another enthusiastic LD newcomer and I hope you keep researching the site, coming to us with questions, and have lots of lucid success.

Nothing relevant tonight. I set a timer on 180 minutes to try WILD right before a REM cycle but fell asleep. I had 2 separate dreams which I wanted to write down on my diary but I was anxious to go back to sleep and try WILD again, unfortunately the result was in forgetting the previous dreams.

Will nap later. Not sure if I should try DILD or WILD. I get to the point where I get hearing hallucinations as loud rattling/banging but then I think I conciously get too excited and change my breathing pattern. Maybe I should focus more on DILD and reality checks but for some reasons I don't seem to remember checking my hands etc. when I'm dreaming (I guess that's the whole point!)

I'm so not giving up on this!
      I love this community!

P.S. If wilding, how long does it take to get to full sleep paralisys? I think I read somewhere it's about 25/30 mins?

When I first started WILDing, it took me around 20-25 minutes to hit SP. Currently, I hit SP in about 10 minutes. Once you get to the stage of SP where you are getting auditory hallucinations, you are pretty close to "sealing the deal." The key is to remain as calm as possible and act as if WILDing is a natural process. Sit back and expect to easily finish your transition into the dream state. Its all about keeping your composure during the WILD process. I suggest passively listening to the hallucinations, and then passively observe any visuals you may see. The key is to not focus too much on anything in particular, so you are able to fall asleep (consciously). At the same time, you must keep enough attention to your goal (achieving WILD), so you don't fall asleep normally. Easier said then done, but with experience it will only get easier. Practice makes perfect, especially when it comes to WILD. Good Luck with your future efforts!

The ideal times for WILDing are:
During a WBTB, after 5-6 hours of sleep. (I start my WBTBs after 3 hours, but for beginners its best to wait until later into the night. The closer you get to the end of a sleep period, the closer together REM periods get. REM also progressively last longer throughout the night.)
During naps, 1-5 hours upon waking in the morning. (This is actually my favorite time to WILD. The longer you wait after waking in the morning, the harder it will be to enter REM directly.)

I had a nap (11pm to 11.47pm) and tried WILD without much success, I'm not sure whether I got to SP but I was having auditory hallucinations, no visuals really.
According to my watch I stayed in that state for about 45 minutes. Have I missed a REM cycle?

Will try again later this afternoon
