Hello and welcome to Dv. *Rereads and sees she's not new to the forum* Hello and welcome to POSTING on the forums.
To answer the question, the easiest way is to question if a. anything EXTREMELY dreamy weird has happened, and b. Can you remember about 30 minutes back everything that led to being/doing whatever your doing right then. This is easier if people are used to you spacing out.

Indeed. That is a nice avatar.

RCing on it's own is a useful tool, but does not necessarily guarantee lucid dreams. Perhaps a more effective method would be combining your reality checking habits with increased awareness. Don't rely entirely on the RC to get yourself lucid; instead, even if it doesn't fail (indicating you aren't dreaming), don't believe it. Get some serious awareness in there. Question where you are, what lead you there, and if everything makes perfect sense. Really think about it.

As for boosting your RC count, you could try building up your prospective memory. A common exercise is to wake up, think of four common things you'll see throughout your day, and tell yourself that you will RC whenever you see these things. Don't make it extremely common, but not something super rare either. A bathroom sink would not be a bad choice. You can keep a tally of all the times you remembered to RC, if you like, and see if you improve over time.

I will try to increase my awareness, Mario92. I would usually use a "Daily Dreamsign" generator a few weeks ago to exercise my prospective memory.

I would recommend RC'ing when you see something out of the ordinary. I don't habitually RC because then it becomes a meaningless habit. (You can if you want to though, hoping you'll randomly do one in your dreams)
