      I'm going insane

Im literally about to stop trying to LD altogether lol because of sleep paralysis. I've read every guide, I've read nonstop about sleep paralysis on Google, and I've tried every technique for WILD. I lay down in a comfortable position, relax, control my breathing, barely swallow my saliva, all of this for 40 minutes twice a day, once during REM and once at a nap. Nothing works. I've never felt the vibrations, never heard the noises of tearing metal, screams, or any other noise not once. I've tried to use binaural beats even, but even that won't work. I'm getting a little frustrated, but more then that I'm curious as to WHAT AM I DOING WRONG. I use the alphabet method, the "1 I'm dreaming 2 I'm dreaming". I've concentrated on my breathing for an hour and try to let my mind relax. Idk... Lucid dreaming is probably not right for me. I just wish I knew how to fix it lol.

How long have you been trying?

Also, maybe WILD just isn't for you. Personally, I suck at WILDs. I've had some successes, but many more failures. To me, WILD is much more difficult than DILD, or WBTB. You might want to just trying a different method for lucid dreaming.

Try a different method. There's not only WILD to try.

Ive been tryin to WILD for a week and a half. I know there's more methods and all, but I'm concerned because it seems that WILD is a more reliable method if you get good at it, like possibly a LD every night. Can MILD/DILD's be just as succesful? If they are I'll be more than happy to switch.

First of all, a week and a half is nowhere near enough time for you to be "going insane" due to lack of success. That would be like someone who is training to become an artist getting discouraged at not being able to produce an above-average piece, after a week of learning, and giving up.

If you don't have patience, learning any skill is just "not for you" - lucid dreaming or otherwise.

And there are many factors that affect one's ability to WILD, just like there are many factors that affect one's ability to DILD. Controlling dreams and inducing lucidity are hardly "exact sciences", especially for beginners. I would say that you're aiming way too high, if you're already focusing on LDing every night. And I have like 5000% more DILDs than I do WILDs, so that should give you some perspective on how no one method is intrinsically more effective or constant than the other. You need to find one that is easiest for you, not one that you want to be easiest for you.

You have to crawl before you walk.

Don't give up. I've been trying for a month and I only had a single WILD (with the help of a friend called Sleep Deprivation).

      1. It's gonna take you a lot more than a week and a half to learn to WILD
      2. Everyone experiences SP differently. I've never experienced any of the bizzare noises or visions some people report with SP, but I've experienced Waking SP numerous times.
      3. If you keep on without sucess, try another method. I've made several sincire attempts to learn WILDing. 0 WILD, 22 DILD. I was having very limited sucess with various techniques early on. Then I tried. LaBerge's MILD, and it worked like a charm.

The most important thing to remember is to try a lot of different things. Keep what works and drop what doesn't. It's not about picking from a set of cookie-cutter, prefabricated techniques and sticking with it. Every person is different and must develop their own personal set of methods and strategies that works for them. Sharing ideas and techniques is fine, but remember in the end it's only to give others things to try and potentially incorporate into their own LD-induction style.

WILD is not for beginners in anyway. WILD requires a lot of experience before being able to be pulled off.

The correct way to go about it, in my opinion, is to achieve a basic DILD so you understand what a lucid dream is like and how to control it, then attempt a DEILD so you know what the trance state of a WILD is like, as well as how to move into the dream in a trance state. Then, finally attempt a WILD. Without knowing the basic experiences and feelings you get in lucid dreams, I would say a WILD is damn near impossible.

      Exactly.
I never had a successful WILD yet, I've tried some times, but with no success, I rather stick to DILD and FILD, hehe.

You're not giving a method enough time. It takes people years to get to grips with this kind of thing. I really want a LD too, but i'm being realistic about it

You dont need sleep paralysis to lucid dream. There are plently of other methods. You are probably better off anyway because sometimes sp isnt that pleasant.

Billybob has the greatest tutorial that I've found for WILD'ing. There is one specific thing that it seems you are doing wrong- concentrating on your attempt to WILD. When you're falling asleep, don't watch out for imagery, listen for sounds, etc. Simply fall asleep. He suggests using an "anchor", or something that you passively concentrate on in order to keep your mind empty and relaxed. As soon as you're about to fall asleep, and you think "I wonder how close I am to dreaming?" you've brought yourself into awareness and ruined your chances. Read some more of the tutorials on here, I especially suggest Billybob's, and give yourself more time to work on it. If you feel you're getting too frustrated, take a break from it for a while before trying it again. It's achievable for everyone, you just have to figure out what you're doing wrong.
