Tommo. I'm glad you took something positive away from the nostalgia

My hubby takes out the minimum car insurance. If we wreck the vehicles, we pay for damage to whatever was hit but that's it. I have no idea how much it costs though. He said it was outrageous though because he was insuring a bunch of vehicles we don't use anymore on the offhand chance that we would. Now he only has insurance on the 3 vehicles we use.

I'm ranting because I went back to sleep at around 6AM and I fell asleep with a baby wipe in my hand (as usual). But I somehow managed to HOLD on to it the entire 4 hours and now my poor hand is a major prune lol and it is most uncomfortable

Ugh... I still have to go clothes and food shopping and pack a suitcase. Plus, I see my p-doc at 2.

      Well, I'm a 22-year-old male. That's strike one.

Strike two? I didn't know when I bought my car (07 Scion TC), but apparently it's one of the most expensive cars to insure. Not because it isn't safe or because it's fast, but because [drum roll] most people that drive it are 18 to 25-year old males.

Granted, it's been in two accidents--a minor one (I slid off a dirt road) and a bigger one (a car drove into my on the highway and spun my car out, smashing me into the guard rail--he kept driving). But neither accident changed how much I pay--it's been the same since I started driving.

As far as my insurance company knows, I drive 5 miles to and from work each day. Really? I drive about 80 miles a day. I'd probably be paying even more if I told them that.

And here my father wants me to get a car and driver's license someday. PFfft, but with this insurance stuff, this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Actually, I think my lesson is: if you're a male, don't buy a nice car until you're 25.
At least I have the car paid off... I was living with my parents when I bought it, so I had it paid off within a year.

I'd love to bike to work. But a 35-40 mile ride (one way) is a bit rough. I've been debating this for a while. I love the area I live in, and I like the school I go to. But it's so damn far from work! And I could look for another job, but I'd be lucky to find anything else paying as much as I make now.

Wow, tommo, your post really takes me back. I was the very shy, bullied kid in grade school, too. Of course, I never fought back, even mentally. I just retreated even more... It's really amazing that I function as well as I do now. I have friends, I have a job, and soon I'll have my college diploma. For all of the crap I went through growing up, I have a "normal" life now. My friends are anything but normal though. ...I still have moments where I feel vulnerable like that though, so for that.

Link: Don't say that, I need to get a car/insurance soon myself. D: And, I was so clumsy growing up that I never learned to ride a bike... >.>; Two of my friends just got rollerblades, but I'd literally die if I tried to use those. Why must I be so clumsy?

You can ride a bike! Don't say you can't. Give it a try, it's so much fun. Sure, you won't master it the first few times, but with a little bit of practice you'll be riding all over the place, grinning from ear-to-ear.

Ok, maybe you won't make a ridiculous and goofy happy face like I do... but you'll still probably have fun!

It would be more fun to ride a horse. ...then the horse can shit on the hoods and windshields of tailgaters.

      Hmmm...poop insurance? It's all bio-degradable.

Couldn't tell you what my insurance discounts for, I've been driving for a while and I've kept my record pretty clean.

I recently let my insurance know that I no longer commute to work and so I get a discount for local driving only, but I don't know what it amounts to.

I freaked my shit the other week when I drove through a really nasty hailstorm at night, thought for sure my car would look like crap afterwards, but not a dent.

I think I have some decent luck for some things.

Now if I could get rid of this headache...

I've seen what tornadoes can do up there firsthand.

Remember, driving in heavy rain can be dangerous also.

      Be safe!

His school is right across the street, I just walked and got him. I actually PURPOSELY chose this house because his school would be right across the street.

Now there's 2 tornadoes headed for Danny's work. He works in Midlothian and they get them there sometimes. There's a photo of one from last year, visible from the plant. I can't get ahold of his cell anymore. I'm ready for today to be over.

edit: Got ahold of him finally. And look, the tornadoes spell "poo"

Stay safe and have fun with the tornadoes Ophelia!

      My small rant.

This damn woodpecker keeps pecking on my chimney all freaking day! I have been throwing rocks at it, but I think it's time for the pellet gun...

EDIT: Wow, those tornadoes are in national news!

So, I go to do my usual monthly reports and find that there is a fantastic new problem with Microsoft Excel. I import my data into the data tabs and the graphs populate themselves and look awesome. ...this excitements ends quickly once I export the graph sheet to a PDF for customer distribution. The legend on the graph has lost all of its text and symbols and the graph itself has lost the axis labels.

So, I install Adobe Acrobat updates and reboot.
...install another Adobe Acrobat update and reboot.
      ...install Windows updates and reboot.
      ...install Office SP-3 update, reboot.
...attempt to export my graphs again, no f'in good.
      ...reboot again.
      ...still broken...
...reboot again just for the fuck of it...
      ...no good.

So, shout outs go to both Microsoft and Adobe today: GO SELF-FORNICATE, YOU GREEDY BASTARDS. I WILL NOT BUY THE NEW VERSION JUST BECAUSE YOU BROKE MY OLDER, PERFECTLY WORKING VERSION.

I will never, ever update anything on a Windows computer again. Every time an update installs, something breaks.

On a good note, my Linux box is working perfectly and it exports the graphs to PDF files perfectly. As soon as I can afford a second firewall, router, and switch, I am removing the Operations LAN from the Corporate LAN. MY Operations LAN will be all Linux, and it will work perfectly.
