      haha I know right!

I have one crooked tooth on the bottom but I don't care at all.
But also some complete moron smashed one of my front teeth with a hockey stick a few years back.
Which I had to get this cement stuff in place of half of it.
That's annoying enough, let alone all this braces and retainers shit.

Yeah I'd definitely just get fake teeth lol

I have nice straight teeth as well...my wisdom teeth just happened to come in crooked/sideways because there was no room for them. They aren't making any of my other teeth crooked, but I do feel as though there is pressure on all my teeth...they are getting pushed ever so slightly closer together. I noticed it's more difficult to floss now.

tommo...I had a similar accident, involving a pool ball. Cracked in half and fixed it. However the tooth eventually died and I had a root canal and now I have a porcelain front tooth! I wish they were all like that.

Yeah I had the wisdom teeth doing the same thing as well. Was taking Codeine for ages coz it hurt like hell. Feels so much better after they're out. You should get on it as soon as you get that insurance coz you'll probably be waiting for 3 months after you book in. Plus you have to go to normal dentist first to get checked and referred to somewhere to get an x-ray before you can even start to get booked in for the surgery somewhere else.

Ow, that woulda hurt. Dentist said mine might die too, hasn't yet though, must be all the milk I drink hehe I wanna get one of those porcelain ones too though, this one gets all shit caught in it coz it's not really smooth. I guess microscopic stuff gets in all the rough bits and builds up. Hate it.

Same here. I was born with straight teeth. I kinda wanted braces when I saw all the positive attention my cousin was receiving at school when we were kids though.

I was offered braces when I was younger... I just said "fuck that shit, I like my teeth". No-one seemed to mind.

I was 14 or 15 I believe, and to be perfectly honest I said something like "No thanks, I don't think I need them"... But you know... that was the spirit of it...

Haha, yeah...I actually already did that too. Went to my dentist and got x-rays to take to an oral surgeon(?) and a script for vicodin. However it was long enough ago that of course I'll have to go and do that all over again. I hate vicodin/percocets too, they make me constipated. I wonder if I can convince them to give me nitrous during my procedure lol. I had it once before when I had a tooth removed when I was around 10. All I remember is the doctor saying, "Yooouurrrr'e gonnnnaaaa beeee juuuuuuussssttt fiiiiiiiiinnee hurrr hurr hurr."

When I got my wisdom teeth extracted they gave me some intravenous sedative that completely knocked me out. Unfortunately, whatever painkillers they gave me after were no good at all...

      HAHA Fin hilarious.

That's so fucked though that they gave you Vicodin lol No wonder there's such huge addiction rates in U.S. Talk about overkill lol

As with nitrous, it depends on whether you get it at the dentist or oral surgeon. Dentist will keep you awake and give you nitrous I think. But if the wisdom teeth are still under the gums you have to go to the oral surgeon (dunno either lol) and they will give you a general anaesthetic.

If they are still under the gums, ask the oral surgeon to give you Ketamine as an anaesthetic. It's the best, safest one and you wake up with less pain than other types of anaesthetic. Plus, you might have a little conversation with god while you're under

Nah, it really isn't bad. They knock you out cold with an IV drip, do their surgery thing, and you wake up wondering when they'll start. Then you're either really happy or really sleepy, and someone takes you home, and you take a little nap on the couch and feel slightly sore for the next three days. Then you're good as new.

My parents are directly African, so of course, my sister has good teeth, and mine are jacked up. In fact, my lower jaw is farther ahead than my upper one, so I just got my braces on two days ago. It sucks. I never really cared if my teeth were crooked, but apparently it would have done collateral damage to my teeth if I had let it go. I can't even chew right now, and all I can eat is ramen and macaroni.

My teeth were pretty crooked too, at first. Not too noticeable, but I was always told that I had larger teeth and a smaller mouth. My mouth is tiny inside; it can barely fit my back molars. I got four extractions so the adult teeth could grow in properly, then I got braces on top of that.

When I first got my braces, the orthodontist told me to eat bread and macaroni. But when I got home, I couldn't put even the slightest amount of pressure on my teeth. I couldn't even eat jello. xD So I was stuck drinking Booster Juices for the first week.

I guess I'm too stubborn, since I'm chewing Trix cereal with my back teeth right now. It's all good plus, before the braces, I got my wisdom teeth and four other teeth removed to make space for the braces. My teeth have always been funky. Thanks for the compliment, by the way.

Yeah he's right puffin. The only slightly bad bit is the adrenaline rush as they put you under, which stops your gums from bleeding too much coz it's a vasoconstrictor.
Aside from that, there's just the horrible stabbing pain for 3 weeks afterward and gum infections causing you to want to rip your jaw off.

All four of my wisdom teeth have come out, I think two have been there for close to a year. Are they practically guaranteed to cause problems? I've always wanted to be knocked out by an anesthetic so I have that to look forwards too () but the thought of surgery of any kind makes me cringe.

Nah, it's usually pretty clean. Some people who don't know to eat pudding and jello for the first week and instead start gnawing on chuck roast might get the odd infection, but for most people, it's straightforward. I never had a problem with them, and my sis was fine after each of her tooth extractions (yes, multiple). Just take it easy and you'll be fine. The pain is perfectly manageable.

What about the stitches? I'm fine with surgery in general, but... Ick... Any kind of stitches just totally gross me out.

Stitches aren't common if you get them while they're still small. If you let them grow really huge, you may be looking at one or two per tooth. Mine weren't stitched up and healed pretty fast.

But it's not like most people need to have their wisdom teeth removed. If you've got enough space for them, just leave them there I say. Surgery always carries with it risk, and there's no reason to remove teeth that aren't yet causing problems.
