How happy are you? 1-10

I agree with Darkmatters and Khh. I'm perfectly fine with a 1-10 scale and use it a lot myself.
But define happiness. Is it optimism, a bouncing-off-the-wall high energetic joy?
I use 5 as contentment which can branch off to different degrees of emotions either way. 6 would be giggly whereas 10 would be manic lol. 4 would be hohum whereas 1 would be on the verge of slitting ones wrist or killing someone else.
So, I'm boggled by the high end scale here. I'm almost always optimistic and I would probably be smiling before jumping off a bridge because I'm always smiling (even when sad).
I'm jealous of anyone consistently at a 7 or 8.
(But even if I was a 7 or 8 I would want to strangle a 10

)

Right now i'd say an 8. But i know if I was living this same life I'm living back any number of years ago, I would be at a 10.

Life is what you make it no matter what. There are people with the worst lives ever who are still having fun. When I think about being "happy" I always think about the conversation in the movie Fearless. A guy went on trying to explain how certain grades of tea made it better, and the other guy replied, if you're in a good mood, then it doesn't matter. With that, I guess I think I've learned how to be happy in the worst of times, and yet when things get better, manage to still push for better things.

I guess it depends on the scale they've chosen. For some, a "1" might not be unhappy, but simply neutral, not feeling either happiness or sadness.
