Good heavens, you know when I read your first post I saw a post that had some points but which was worded horribly, now I see a very fitting avatar.

I loled at the ratings bar... I've never seen anything remotely that low, even troll videos do better.

It's really incredible that that's a legitimate campaign ad in an enlightened country. Fortunately I think Perry and his kind are gradually becoming extinct; there is a linear trend of liberalisation of views in the US.

Gingrich isn't any better. One of his quotes is about his fear of America being taken over by Islamic atheists. It's bizarre that mainstream Republicanism has become synonymous with being unelectably insane. I've only seen two sensible Republicans with genuinely liberal (economically and socially) views. Can't remember one of them; the other is Ron Paul, but he himself has said some stupid things about the state and Christianity not being separate.

At this point I think Greenhavoc is kidding. But I agree - let's not bring him back onto the thread.

It changes things to note Gingrich was the asshole who said that, I thought you were talking about Bachman, Perry or Cain. Hearing them say that wouldn't have been news at all because they've already done worse but the most we knew about Gingrich was that he's a hypocritical adulterer. I didn't know he was a dumbass on top of that.

I hope what you're saying is true but I honestly don't see it that way. I see a pendulum swinging back and forth, and sometimes it swings quickly like when Obama got elected but sometimes it swings very, very slowly like the 70 years that have been spent trying to destroy the New Deal. One thing I can say is that it seems our vocabulary has shifted to the right due to their excessive use of red herrings. Communist is an argument by itself, and someone who is called a communist must switch their argument to explaining why they're not a communist, as though it were objectively bad. The Right doesn't seem to make any real arguments anymore, at least not on the news or radio.

I don't understand what the big deal over Perry's ad is. Do people expect a conservative candidate to come out with a pro-gay ad, or what? I'm glad there is at least one person in the Republican party who still has the guts to say what he believes. The thing to watch now will be whether or not he backs down like most Republicans do when they get attacked after saying something unpopular.

As for the dislike count, I think that may have something to do with the gay rights activitst who actually organized a mass "dislike" campaign. That kind of skews results.

Anyway, if it weren't for things like this, poor Rick would probably drop off the radar altogether. He's got to do something, being one of the only decent candidates the GOP has got these days.

Rick Perry seems gay to me tbh. Don't really need to say anymore then, almost universally, if someone is staunchly against any act,
they most likely engage in that act themselves. Or at least want to.

greenhavoc, not enjoying the sight of homosexual affection is not the same that thinking that homosexuality is wrong. Being turned off by homophobic sex makes you straight, thinking homosexuality is wrong makes you an asshole. You seem to just be straight.

We don't care if his opinions are unpopular. They're deplorable.

GH: A knee-jerk reaction of disgust is NOT a "rational" thing. You don't look at gay sex and rationally decide to be disgusted. It just kicks in. Don't associate your homophobia with rationality. The rational thing to do is to live and let live, in spite of your disgust. Hell, I find the thought of gay sex (well, man-man sex hehe) disgusting too. Doesn't mean I conclude that that's wrong. That would be bypassing rationality, if anything.
