what are your eating habits like?

      Meat lover? Vegetarian? Vegan? Fruitarian?

Curious, what do you eat, or not eat? Why?

My eating habits are all over the place. I tend to stay away from processed foods mostly, and I juice my own fruits and veggies to go with my breakfast. I found out that all juices you buy at the market sit in giant containers for extended periods of time before they even reach the shelves, and are treated with chemicals to prevent them from going bad before then...

I buy organic chicken instead of that shit Tyson sells, which if you've done any research into the matter you'd discover they use steroid pumped chickens that are frequently dying because of various problems caused by the changes they make to their diet, and the steroids. Ive seen video of farmers bringing out tractorfuls of dead chickens. I also substitute in ground turkey for ground beef, and patties when I want burgers. They are better on the stomach and they taste great. Bison is good too.

I try to stay away from soda also, because ive probably had enough to last me the rest of my life. I drink water, my homemade juices, lemonade, tea etc. I don't abstain from alcohol in case you may be wondering, and I smoke Ganja occasionally. (I'm no hippie). I just became more aware of the things I put into my body.

I've never really had a big sweet tooth but I do make a cake or some cookies every now and then. I also love to grab a fresh apple pie from Denny's and throw some vanilla ice cream on top of that sweet bitch.

I guess for the most part I eat well. I'll eat fast food maybe twice a week, Wendy's is my favorite considering they use fresh meat. Pizza is also great. How about yourself?

i cook/prepare all my food, eat mostly organic, and went to a nutritionist for my diet plan (as well as my gym routines). i follow that plan pretty strictly, so I'd say my eating habits are pretty good. we only get one body, so it makes sense to maintain it as best as possible. the quality of life is much better when your body is working to it's full potential. i see too many people in their 40s and even in their 30s who just feel horrible on a daily basis because they haven't spend time caring for their body. I'm in my 20s, and people say this is the "prime" time of my life... but fuck that, I'll still be outrunning 20-year-olds when I'm 60.

I was vegan and mostly organic for four years, but these days my diet is moderately crappy--balanced but mostly low quality. Today I'm getting pad thai for breakfast
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

      You guys are my heroes!

Almost every day for the past several months, all I eat are 2 Hotdogs with Provolone Cheese (and sometimes bacon) from Sheetz. I drink about 26 ounces of Coke and 12 ounces of Creme Soda. If I have the money, I might buy some french fries or a side salad. Usually though, I have a small bag or a small handful of some sort of chips and something chocolaty. I don't eat it all at once though (unless I get fries which is rare). I'll have, say, the sweet for breakfast, chips for lunch, hotdogs for dinner.
I go through phases where I drink lots of water and nothing but.

I had my galbladder removed several months ago and I found that was those were the only things that didn't give me gas or diarrhea 97% of the time.
Forget fruit and veggies. They absolutely kill me.
I'm taking OTC meds now so hopefully I'll be able to start eating better soon.

I'll eat anything but fast food. I always feel myself get sick from that stuff a few hours later after eating it if you know what I mean. Some french fries and a burger from Wendy's aren't worth a whole afternoon of the shits.

That amazes me how different peoples systems are, TheGritz. When my gallbladder was at its worst before my surgery, practically the only thing I could eat was Wendy's. Like the hotdogs now-a-days, I lived on Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers and Large Fries
Bacon rarely bothered my stomach but good god sausage did lol. I always thought the two to be very similar in fat content or whatever, but apparently now

Ugh... right now I could REALLY go for a Filet Mignon or a juicy Ribeye with some green beans and a baked potato...

I eat to much. I'll find myself eating when I'm not even hungry. I "boredom" eat. The stuff I do eat isn't healthy.
I really wanted to be a vegetarian. (but I'm too weak to call off the temptations of meat)
I also want to practice water fasting.

Vege and fried food lover. So if the meat is fried, I'll eat it. XD

I don't particularly like shell seafood, like clams and mussels but I guess I'm fine with other meats. I can't meat alone though, I need vege to go along with it otherwise I'll feel weird with too much intake of meat.

And the most unusual thing I don't really like is sweet food so I tend to avoid cakes, desserts, pastries, etc.

it depends on what my body is in a mood for, which usually depends on the season.
if its cold my body will crave something warm (oatmeal, homemade muffins, pancakes, etc). if i'm hot then my body will crave something cold or watery (fruits, low fat ice cream or pudding, etc). for dinner i cook whatever i'm in the mood for that day.
i don't like fast food, i don't like eating at restaurants either, too much noise and people all around me so i pretty much feel uncomfortable at restaurants. i'm also a very slow eater, sometimes i'll take an hour to finish my food.

I'm a slow eater too TropicalBreeze. My [step] dad used to get on to me about it all the time. He's retired Navy and never got out of the practice of scarfing down his food as fast as possible lol

I LOVE seafood. I could live off of fish and sushi but West Virginia isn't the right kind of place for that lol. That's the one thing I love best about Hawaii. We haven't gone for a couple of years now and I'm going through some major Saba withdrawal lol
I don't care for most shell seafood either though. Lobster and crab never really was my thing. Scallops usually aren't prepared properly and are way too greasy. Oysters are okay in moderation but I love shrimp

I'd like to be a vegan, but it's just not something I could feasibly do at this point. Or maybe I'm just too lazy. Oh well.

The problem for me is that I eat snacks all the time. There's always some type of cookie lying around the place that I just casually grab when I'm feeding my other addiction; Pepsi Max. For some reason it's basically all I drink, and it sometimes feels like I'm constantly running up and down the stairs to refill my glass.

I used to buy a snickers bar pretty often, but I actually managed to replace that habit. Now I sometimes buy some cashew nuts and some dried apricots. I actually totally love that, no idea why I haven't done that before. But it seems to give me stomach problems? Is that even possible?

people use to get frustrated that i eat slow to. especially if we were going out to eat. everyone would be finished and ready to go and i would still be eating. so they pretty much had to just sit there and watch me eat.

Maeni, nuts can be VERY hard on your stomach... but (I've heard and experienced) it's hard specifically on people with ulcers. Same with coconut for some weird reason.
Research it. It might be common for anyone. But if not, perhaps you should see a doctor?

Thank you, I had absolutely no idea I was thinking it was the apricots. I think I'm going to start experimenting, since from the descriptions I've read my problem is a more general one rather than an allergy or anything serious. I guess I should just eat less of it and then slowly get accustomed to it or something.

Does the world want me to eat unhealthy shit all the time?? Ugh!

rofl, Maeni. I know THAT feeling Junk food agrees with me MUCH more than the healthy stuff. When I try to eat healthy I feel miserable.

I even asked hubby about the nuts thing to make sure I was getting it right. If it's an ulcer antibiotics and Prilosec (sp) help heaps for him.
I hope it's nothing that drastic though. I ended up trying to look some info up myself lol and it seems (from the tiny bit I found) that some people just can't digest nuts properly.

Yeah that's what I was getting too. I've no idea what "ulcer antibiotics" or "Prilosec" means. Hah, I'm not even sure what to google?
Anyways I don't think it actually is anything drastic, it just makes me feel bloated. So earlier today I bought the same combo as usual and ate all the dried apricots. Oddly enough that also made me feel bloated for a while. It wasn't that bad though and it didn't last as long as it did the other times. So that's the first part of the experiment - time to eat 60 grams of cashew nuts and turn into a gas monster. Good thing I'm home alone.

hehee, I hope you didn't stink yourself out of the house
A lot of stomach ulcers are cured or comforted (? lol) by antibiotics. Prilosec (however it's spelled) is just an OTC heartburn med. It doesn't do anything for me. I take Ranitidine (also over the counter).
