Thread: Did anyone else see this in the sky this morning?

The White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico confirms to Tucson News Now that they did launch a missile Thursday morning.
It was fired off from Ft. Wingate in northwest New Mexico, near Gallup.
It was a Juno missile fired to White Sands Missile Range near Alamagordo, New Mexico.
Soldiers at White Sands try to shoot down the missiles for training.
The rocket trail showed up in the sky northeast of Tucson.
This trail is called a noctilucent cloud. The rocket exhaust was at a high altitude, creating a trail of ice crystals that reflected the morning sunlight before sunrise occurred here in Arizona.
This highlighted the cloud in the sky with dramatic results.

Then again, arizona has had other strange sightings in the sky that were attempted to be written off as something else...

Oh wow that's really pretty. I didn't notice anything unusual with the morning sky, well probably I was asleep too. But I noticed the moon is getting brighter, clearer and nearer to me nowadays.

Thanks, Carrot. I don't think anyone outside of the South Western US could see this.

Anyway, I put my footage and still pics together in a video. Unfortunately I was in a moving vehicle during the first few pics so they are blurred and streaky.

I've seen glowing clouds before from a space shuttle taking off at night.I was a just a wee lad. Me and my neighbors weren't sure what it was. We prepared for the worst and did absolutely nothing and then the next day we heard on the news it was a space thing.

So cool! Always wanted to see a noctilucent cloud...They're one of the rarest and most high-altitude I think and from what I recall mostly only "naturally" seen at high latitudes.

Didn't see this one, but saw a few of them when I lived in Anaheim, Orange county, when they shot a rocket from Vanderbergh AFB in central California. Pretty awesome sight.
