Words/terms/acronyms you´ve grown to hate....

After reading countless forums, posts, books, articles, journals, etc., etc,. we encounter the same words/terms/acronyms over and over again, ...and inevitably just start to hate many of them. Post your favorite terms you love to hate...reasons included if need be.

meditation/meditate (overused and abused: it´s everywhere, everybody "does it"...but probably only a few do it correctly)
mnemonic/MILD (please, LaBerge.....that´s just demonic)
actually, every form of "?ILD", (except WILD, and DILD, ....ok, DEILD,

.....all the rest: decompose)
oneironaut/oneironautics (I will never learn how to pronounce)
sleep paralysis (please,,,,just delete this phrase from the English language...)
astral projection (if I hear it again I will just have to project something up your astral)
modafinil (they say it´s great, but I´m not sure I want to take it anymore....)
hypnosis (it´s just so........old)
forskolin (why do I keep reading foreskin?)

hehe, I read that last word as "foreskin" too

I dislike the word "snowflake" because it's just counter productive and rude.
I dislike the word "minute" as used to indicate the passage of a lengthy amount of time.

The term "salty", used to suggest irritation, has finally grown on me as have a few others.
Hella i.e. Hell Of, is another that has (annoyingly lol) grown on me.

Not a fan of lot of the ILDs except DILD, DEILD, and WILD.

All of the curse/swear words aka profanity, it's just not part of my nature to use them so I dislike them.

I actually like the ILD's..all of them.. think they are cool and fun, but what I do hate are words like: tissue, he passed away, my bad those just bug me to no end why can't people just say, pass my the Kleenex box, he is dead, oops, sorry. grrrrrrrrr

I wanna chime in real quick. As someone whose SO has passed away, I don't say the word "dead" because it's a traumatizing experience for me and at some level I don't believe she's "dead." Also it's a polite and less jarring expression to convey someone is no longer among the "living."

True, I haven't really ever had anyone I knew die, so guess I can't say what it would be like and if it would bug me then or not. Sorry for your loss, and also for my idiocy, but what is an SO? I mean like who but then that makes it like who is the person.

SO stands for significant other. I wouldn't be wrong to address her as girlfriend or partner, but she's been with me since we were very little so I say she's my SO. We also always thought our relationship transcended labels. ^^'

, LucidBunnie. I, too, HATE swear words. I even yell at my video games and YouTube videos: "Watch your language!"

It's part of the- I don't know, OCD, anxiety?- that if I dislike something it will replay in my brain a friggin million times for days.
My family curse like sailors and anytime I spend any time around them, I have swear words bouncing through my brain until I want to lobotomize myself just to make it stop.
Or, if I see something inappropriate, the image will repeatedly pop up in my brain when I'm trying to pray

I don't dislike a lot of words, though. If I can't pronounce something, I google it and listen. "Chloroxylenol" is the latest word.
I'm fascinated by a lot of words- especially if they really roll off the tongue.

Anyway why did you not like modafinil? do you take it every day ? I take once in awhile, but if i take too many i get a bit agitated, so instead of studying, i end up playing dumb computer games,

. Also don't Think it mixes very well with coffee, like if i want too take everyday i would have too stop drinking coffee.

^^, nevet took it, just a pun on the fact that I dont like the sound of the word, so why take it....But sounds intereting, it´s RX, though????. They say adrafanil is a close alternative.

aha i get it, mine is called modafinil as in mode final, or modalert as in mode alert . Not sure what RX means?

Oh yes. Cannot forget that horrid term "ship"- as in, "I ship them (as a couple)."

Why

Modafinil is awesome. I know it as Provigil and Nuvigil (Nuvigil is a generic and isn't as good IMHO). Provigil- as in Pro Vigilance

I had a prescription for it for excessive daytime sleepiness. It's a miracle drug. My insurance refused to cover it, though, without another sleep study..... years later, I had another study but the sleep doc wants to tweak my CPAP before prescribing it

It ticks me off when people uses "OCD" inappropriately. If whatever you're doing doesn't involve irrational anxiety that even you can't make sense of, unfortunately it's not OCD. But I'm too lazy to tell them since those who've never experienced any form of mental disorders will never know what it feels like.

I also hate "ctto", short for "credit to the owner". I'm sorry but owner is whose name? Since you already stole their drawings/photos/videos, might as well just credit them with their actual name.
