Congratulations. That's the best thing you can do for your long term health (besides wearing your seat belt in the car).

I've recently been working myself down. I'm down to around 3ish a day, and I switched to American Spirits because they always advertise that they're "non-addictive." The blueberry blend is nice though.

I had my first cigarette since then on Monday.

      Oh, man. That was amaazzzziinggg.
      I was feeling good.

But that's my last one for a long while. I like to treat myself once in a while.

They have a variety of nice flavors. Oh, one good thing to do is to buy some nicorette gum. You may need an 18 year old friend to do it for you, but it helps. It is a bit pricey though.

No way, the most I've ever payed for one was $7 out of a vending machine at a music hall. Maybe it was a carton?

Respect+ for this hilarious and clever saying.

If you want to stop smoking, you have to actually stop or you'll still have cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

Yeah, it's true, one excuse for a cig leads to another.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

I rarely smoked cigs (a few in my life).

I chew nicotine gum 4mg not to quit but because it makes me feel good. No health side effects either. I don't get why more people just don't do the gum. $30 for 170 pieces. That can last a long time.

      awsome, nice job.

my dad smokes a lot, he wants to give up, but he rathers not to. my mum smoked ages ago then she gave up, and by the way, chewing gum helped her a lot, you should try that. oh and by the way, sh went back and now she smokes again, but she says she doesnt want to want to quit (yea i did mean to put want to twice)

Certainly nicotine gum/patches are better for you than smoking tobacco, but nicotine itself does pose its own milder set of health risks, which include cancer, atherosclerosis, and long term desensitization of acetylcholine receptors.

I would have to agree, the kids these days don't understand: you are either a smoker, or you aren't, nothing wrong with smoking other than you may die younger, but who the hell wants to live forever anyways?! ...its an understanding you get comfortable with when you're a smoker. It builds character.

Not wearing a seatbelt is probably the best way of hindering a potential heart attack 30 or 40 years later.

      No.

      You haven't quit smoking.

You may be quitting, but you haven't quit yet.

I'd say you have to be quitting for a year before you've properly quit.

of course, a short life would have things over and done with quickly, but it would give you a painful last 10-30 years of your life, whereas if you dont smoke, you may live longer, which you seem to think is a bad thing, but it wouldnt be a painful life.

one benifit of my dad smoking was, he used to have ahsma, but when he started smoking it went away, but it could have just been a coinsedence. but even if smoking was the cause of it, that one small good thing definetaly doesnt matdch all the bad things it has done to him, he has an ulcer because of it, he has a terrible cough, a cough kind of like a normal one, exept worse, and life long. and he has bad heartburn from the smallest things (im pretty sure that was caused by smoking, but im not 100% sure on that one) and thenn there is the obvious cost problem, which is really bad at this point, because he owns a buisness which is fucking up, so he is getting in a lot of debt, and the cost of fags is adding to it.

so, i se NO FUCKING REASON why smoking is a good thing.

Well, it does have an effect mentally which I would call existential, some people like it, some don't, and it takes the edge of dying, and you grow a little wiser.

Its not, good, but its not bad. Dying to me is a beautiful thing, and a tragic thing, but its not good or bad.

I say "I quit" meaning I quite, I just quit, not meaning that I quit already.
