      Id takes over

Do you guys ever get those times when you get so mad that your Id practically takes over. When this happends do you get so pissed off that you just lose all rational thought and you just don't care about any negative things that might come from your actions. I know this happends to me sometimes and I would even know I would regret it but i wouldn't know why and I just usually wouldn't care.

Yeah I've been at that point a couple times... for me it's a chance to release anger unrestrained, but for everyone around me it's comedic.

It's happened once, and I have the scars to remind me not to let it happen again.

From the first time I let go in rage, it has sometimes felt like an undercurrent, waiting to happen.

I've smashed TV's, computers, windows, myself. Have not let go on a person so violently, I hope I never do.

      I hope you don't own a gun.

But yeah, happens to me every now and then...just with age you learn to better manage your anger and not to act on impulse.

I've only ever lost control once, and I actually gained respect by doing it.

There was an asshole of a kid that everybody had hated since about sixth grade. His terrible sense of humor and tendency to annoy everybody within earshot of him. Pretty much every day freshman year I had threatened to stab him. One day in chemistry he had one of his random asshole attacks and decided to sneak up on me and shove a wad of paper down my shirt. (I have a thing about things n my shirt ever since a yellow jacket crawled underneath my shirt and stung me.) I had a pencil in hand and was fed up with this guy. Not thinking, I stabbed him in the arm.

This kid had been universally hated by a significant portion of the student populace, and just about everybody knew that he annoyed me the most. News of the incident had traveled clear around the school in less than ten minutes. People thought much more of me afterwards.

Pencil stabbing, estimated physical recovery time, 2 weeks.
      Psychological recovery, never.

Isn't your identity always there? I don't see how it can 'take over'. Unless you mean you let your ID overrun your life, but then can you call it your true ID if it's 'overrun'? Because that would suggest it's covering up your true self.

Heh... not I.D. as in Identity... the ID, as in Ego, Superego, and ID. Google it. It's a Freudian thang.

No no see when Id takes over you don't have rational thoughts like "Maybe instead of stabbing him with a pencil, which would be less painful and have less repercussions on both of us, I could just punch him". With impulse control down and the pencil readily available, there was no higher thought process in place to ask if it was a good idea. It just... happens.

I used to be like that when I was a kid, around 7 or 8. It is no longer an issue however. Since about my mid teens on up, I have always had full control, and I rarely if ever get upset.

Okay would you get upset if someone slep with your girlfriend, kicked your ass, and then pissed on you.

For a moment, I actually thought this was a reference to the company that made Doom

On the other hand, the Id can take over a lot. Stupid natural side of us..

Sure there are things that would get me upset. Though its not really a cause of Id taking over. If you are being attacked or something, its even more important to stay rational. So instead of lashing out at random, you do the logical thing such as kick them in balls, then run off.
