      New device "SmartLucider" (successor to the RemDreamer)

      Just thought I'd mention that someone on the French lucid-dreaming forum found a new device by the creator of the RemDreamer called the "SmartLucider".

      Since commercial links are prophibited (IIRC), I won't link to it, but you can find it with a simple "SmartLucider" search on Google. (The main site's out, but Ebay still has some.)

      The nice thing about the device is that it's a lot cheaper than the old RemDreamer ($60 instead of $150+), while retaining a similar (perhaps better) feature set:
      * Rem-detection based on tiny infrared sensors next to the eyes.
      * Alarms of beeping and/or light flashes.
      * Small and light-weight.
      * Highly configurable. You can control: flash brightness, sound volume, cue length, cue frequency, length of cue series, DreamAlarm on/off (kinda like snooze), and REM-detection regularity level (ie. sensitivity)

      I'm too lazy to describe it more atm, but I thought it was cool enough to get a copy. It arrived a few days ago, and I've been testing it along with some others on the French lucid-dreaming forum. I'm too lazy to cross-post atm, so feel free to check there for our updates: [Test] Bandeau SmartLucider

      (I don't speak French unfortunately, but I just use the built-in Chrome translation, along with the IMTranslator extension for making posts there.)

      I also got an offer regarding it, since i bought their previous REM-Dreamer kit some years ago. (Though I don't remember whether the REM-Dreamer costing over a hundred bucks, but i might remember wrongly due to living in Finland and using different currency back then, before moving abroad) It sounds quite handy indeed and I hope you both share some experiences you have with the device in here. I've been on the verge on buying it.

      Hi, I'm using again my rusty REM-Dreamer. Yes is bulky but it works, and yes $150. shipped from Poland to USA...would've preferred if the screen displayer would light up, in case you wanted to change any setting in the dark.
      Here is my fist shared experience. non-lucid

      I haven't tried to lucid dream for a few years. I used to use the REM-Dreamer so when I got the e-mail about smartlucider I bought it, half thinking maybe someone had hacked an e-mail database and was running a scam.

      It arrived in the post a few days later. It had a battery included. You program it by visiting a website that enables the settings to be transferred to the unit with coded sequences of changing colours. It all seems to work fine.
      I intend to get back into lucid dreaming but I will need to re-train myself to recognise the flashes. If this works as well as the REM-Dreamer I will be very happy.

      So, madeofparts, have you had a chance to try out your SmartLucider mask? What do you think of it? I just got one recently. I'm impressed by how comfortable it is and all the features it has. It's also amazingly cheap, considering how well-designed it appears to be. I haven't gotten lucid with it yet, but have only had time to try it once so far (last night). It may take me awhile to optimize the settings and train myself to recognize the lucidity cues while I'm dreaming.

      I bought one of these, but reading the manual gave me a head ache. I mean, it's crazy. Plus, it really really seems cheaply made. I'm not sure how effective it will be. I bought it months ago, and haven't even tried it.
