Attempt at looking in a mirror (FAIL)

      Hello again!!

I just wanted to tell you all about an expierence I had quite a while ago while I was lucid. This was right near the end of the dream and I'm skipping LOADS of other stuff I did here but this is what happened:

I was walking around my old house (moved out about a year ago and all my dreams of 'home' have been there lately) and I walked into my room. For some reason there was a big floor to cieling mirror on one of the walls. I'd heard that looking into a mirror doesn't work in dreams but I had never heard WHY it didn't work. was wondering what would happen for it not to work like would the glass shatter? Would there be no reflection? It was an idea I had been thinking about for a while before so I stepped in front of the mirror to see what would happen. I must say I wasn't expecting to see a fat little Indian guy staring back at me. Especially seeing as I'm a lanky white guy. Well as you would imagine this shocked me juuuuuuuust a little so I screamed (my reflection screamed too which was even more creepy) and ended up waking myself up.

So has this happened to anyone else? Have you looked into a mirror and seen somebody COMPLETELY different? Not necessarily a fat indian guy but enough to make you think "Woah that's not me"

      Thanks for reading (y)

Yes this has happened. Not a fat indian guy but tons of other bizarre stuff. It's most bizarre if you're dreaming and see your normal reflection, lol. But this is why looking in a mirror is a good RC for me (if I happen to be next to a mirror)... You just have to learn not to get freaked out easily, because you are probably dreaming if something like that happens. Sometimes it does just freak you out though. Can't help it =P

Mirrors behave very strangely in dreams. If you have the chance to find a mirror again, lift your hand in front of your face so you can see between your fingers. This always produces extreme visual results for me.

Here's a link to my DJ entry about my first mirror experience during a lucid, covered in the second paragraph. DJ Entry with mirror. I was expecting things to be quite strange, so it didn't shock me too bad.

I have had the same fascination with looking into mirrors when lucid, one time I was in a swimming baths changing room with a guy, became lucid and then walked away from him to find a mirror lol, when I looked in I was a beautiful sea like creature, kind of like Medusa but more octopus legs than snake heads coming out of my body, eyes were big, and my skin was a shimmering blue green colour, I was fascinated with this sight and the excitement woke me up

I once looked into a full-length mirror in a lucid dream. The picture in my avatar is the closest approximation of what I saw in that mirror that I could make with the eLouai Candybar Dollmaker software. (In the dream, the shirt was tighter, had T-shirt sleeves, and had more hearts and sparklies on it.) In real life, my hair has never been that long, or that wavy. I thought it was really cool that it looked that way in the dream.

I actually just had an experience with this last week. I was in a dream and got off my bed. There was a full body mirror next to me and I looked into it. I had blue eyes(I have brown in RL), lighter hair, and thinner eyebrows. It was so creepy. I also saw my hands and they looked REALLY weird (Like I figured they would)....all of this in a normal dream haha.

Very creepy experience I must say

Lol. I've never seen myself that differently in a mirror; usually there's only small details that are off - my hair is a bit longer or shorter, or my eyes are a different color. I've also seen myself with freckles, which is pretty wierd.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

An old gray haired guy who happened to be less then half as tall as I am. When I saw him I shrunk to his size and my back started to hurt like hell. Had to stretch myself back to normal size.

I was told that you see your subconscience, or how you see yourself in a mirror, had a buddy who looked in a mirror and gave up lucid dreaming all together

I don't always see the same thing. Also it's fairly.. wrong to give up the wonders of rape lucid dreaming over a slightly intimidating image.
My face was melting once, the other time half of it was missing, all is good fun now that I look back at it.
