Question May or May not have Experienced my First Lucid Dream

Sorry for the wall of text, but I'd really like to know if this was an actual Lucid Dream, and I thank you for taking the time to read it:

This morning may have been the first Lucid Dream I have ever had, but there is a problem. I'm not exactly sure it was an actual Lucid Dream.

I'll explain what happened in my dream and why I feel this way.

I woke up this morning, and was laying there for about 10 minutes. I was going to get up and get ready for school, but I said fuck it, I'm not going, and went back to bed.

I then had a dream, but I don't remember what happened in it. I can only remember the events leading up to my (maybe) lucidity. In my dream I was climbing a ladder and while I was doing so, I thought to myself, "I should do a reality check". So, as I was climbing the ladder I looked at my hand, and it was on backwards.

This is where I think I achieved lucidity. What happened next was I was standing on a sort of road. The dream became more vivid and I remembered not to get too excited because i might wake up, or return to normal dreaming. I walked around and went into a restaurant and there was a poker table. Some people were sitting there. Next, I walked out and thought to myself, "it would be cool if so and so was standing outside. Sure enough, they were there.

I'm not sure what happened next, but I remember hearing my Dad and Brother talking outside my room. My dream began to fade, and I remembered that you can shout "clarity", or something, and the dream would stabilize. I did so, and the dream came back.

What I remember next was me standing by the place with the ladder, where my (maybe) lucidity began.

I think at this point I began regular dreaming again. I don't remember controlling any of this dream, but it did seem more vivid than most dreams I have.

So there you have it. I was pretty excited when I woke up, but I began to think of what happened and I am less sure that it was an actual Lucid Dream.

Here are some reasons why I think this:

      - Some parts seemed to skip ahead, like the ladder scene at the beginning. I remember looking at my hand and realizing that I was dreaming, but then I was suddenly on a road.

      - The dream was kind of out-of-focus, yet I never thought to correct this.

      - Moving around seemed weird, like I was only partially in control.

Of course, I may be worrying for nothing and this was an actual Lucid Dream. I'd like you guys' take on what I experienced and whether or not you think it was a Lucid Dream.

One more question. Is it possible to be only semi-lucid?

Thank you for reading, if you did.

Congrats! Sounds like a lucid dream to me!

The fact that you were worried about waking up and that you thought to shout "clarity" sounds like you were fully aware of your state- i.e. that you were actually in bed dreaming. That's all that's required for a lucid dream.

Lucidity and clarity vary. Sounds like you were pretty lucid but maybe lacking in clarity. Often, paying attention to all of your senses and really focusing on things nearby can increase clarity.

You're on your way. Good job on the reality check.

      Maybe I'm over thinking it.

Definitely a lucid dream. In fact, better than mine. I lost visuals as soon as I became lucid, then had to bring it back. The dream ended a few seconds after that.

Yep, mine go kind of like this too. I've had several but they never last very long unfortunately. Lucid is just being aware, so as long as you know it's a dream, it doesn't matter if you control it or just go with it, you're aware of it. I'd like to try to just go with it the next time, see where it leads, but I'll have to fight not losing lucidity. Congrats!

      Nice first lucid.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride
