Cool Binaural Beats + Interesting way of becoming Lucid

Not sure if this was the right forum for this post, but here goes..

Last night I tried Binaural Beats (Free Android App) for the first time. I had 2 LDs (actually, I think I had 3, but drinking too much wine last night killed my recall and I couldn't remember anything about the third). I hadn't had an LD in two nights, so I can't say for sure if the Beats actually helped or if I would have had the LDs anyway, but I'm definitely gonna keep using it for awhile and see what happens.

Anyway, main reason for this post is that I became lucid in an interesting way that had never happened to me before. Usually, I notice something is weird or off, and that prompts me to do a RC, and then I become lucid. This time, however, there was a woman (smokin hot) flirting with me in a crowded room, laying it on pretty thick. I actually had the exact thought 'Man I wish I was dreaming right now so I could lay this girl down..' This caused me to do an RC just for the hell of it.. and bam! lucid.

I'm sure this type of thing has happened to others, but it was a first for me and I thought it was interesting. I've had plenty of lucid dream sex, but I don't think the desire for it has ever caused me to become lucid before

LOL I'm too scared to read that DJ. What's the name of the app though?

HAHA! It's completely PG, and I didn't actually go through with it once I became lucid.. decided I had better things to do

The app I used is called Binaural Beats Therapy. It has several presets. I tried the one called 'Self-Hypnosis' while repeated mantras. Also tried the 'Creativity' preset as well.

Just curious, do you know the beat frequency you were on? Maybe you are onto something with the binaural tones
I think I will try this tonight!

The 'Self-Hypnosis' preset doesn't say exactly what the frequency is, it just says glide down to theta waves and slowly come back up to awake state over 20 min, but I only listened to the first 10 min.

The 'Creativity' preset says 'begin at 10hz then varying from 8 to 6hz with a glide back to 8hz at the end.' This is also a 20 min preset, but I only listed to 10 min of it.

There are several more presets that I have not yet tried.

Cool, I hope i can find something like this in audio format.

I do remember hearing that theta oscillations are optimal for lucid dreaming, but then something also about alpha,
      WELL i'm excited for this

      gl with the LD goals!

Is there anywhere online that I can download for free some binaural beats to convert to mp3 to put on my phone? It's not an android or smartphone though.

Do binaural beats even work that way? Can I just dl a recording and listen to it as I fall asleep?

Yes, as long as the recording is kept in stereo format and you listen with headphones. This is because a different frequency is played to each ear.

Yeah, I have earbuds, and headphones. Should I listen to them in bed before sleep, or at the computer before I go to bed?

Also can you link me to a site that lets me download some please? All I find are paysites and just information on it.

Probably best to listen in bed, but I'm not really sure. They have been proven to induce certain brain states, but whether or not they actually aid Lucid Dreaming is still speculation at this point I think. The BEST time, IMO, to listen would be when you wake up for a WBTB. I would think the self-hypnosis preset would be particularly helpful when WILDing. I'll report back here after I've had some time to assess whether or not these are actually making a significant difference in my LD rate.

As for sites with free downloads, I'll try to look for some when I get a chance. I remember looking a few years ago when I was researching astral projection, but I only found pay-per-downloads at that time too. Best way might be to try to download one of the free apps and unpack the archive file, if you have the expertise to do that.

      wut.

So no, I won't be doing that. I'll just wait until I find more evidence to prove they actually work, and in the meantime I have some other things to try out.

You could also try some out by ripping the audio off of a youtube video for binaural beats

      There has also been this

When you're looking for or setting at what you want to be at, you might want to be outside of the REM range (2-7Hz) because Ive been told that during REM the part of your brain responsible for recognition and awareness is deactivated. Just a hypothesis on my part.

Also, archive file is like a .zip or a .rar

On a side note, I tried some last night
I dont really recall my dreams. I had one of those nights where it feels like youve just gotten up an hour or two later, but rested.
I will try this again on a night where I can sleep more

Ah. Yeah. I tried subliminal messages and a subliminal messages song before, both seemed to take all my dreams away. If I look back in my dream journal, I have 5 dreams recalled, then 4, then 2, then 1, none, and then none. I gave up, and the night after that I was back on form.
