      Letting dreams unfold.

I've recently just been allowing lucid dreams to happen i.e not trying to control or change anything in the dream. Normally when I become lucid I instantly start trying to do stuff and this often results in lack of awareness and vividness and so I've decided to just let the dream happen and to just casually observe. I must admit it's been quite the experience and so many weird and interesting things have happened.

In a recent dream I was in the local shopping centre and I noticed a friend of mine but for some reason I felt compelled to hide from him. Realizing this was an unusual thing to feel I became aware that it was a dream. I didn't react. I kept on walking forward until I came to a car. I looked down and noticed I had some keys so I let myself in. Now I don't drive in real life so I always feel odd behind the wheel of a car. Suddenly a guy got in the passenger seat and I found myself getting a little annoyed. However when I saw his face I realised he was pretty good looking so I let him stay in my car lol. He told me his name was Shaun and we were meant to be going out on a date. Again I figured i'm only here to observe and not control so I went on a date with Shaun but the rest of the dream is quite hazy.
So far it seems all of my lucid dreams that I just let happen result in something sexual or meeting good looking people. Perhaps that just says something about my subconscious lol.

I've really enjoyed this and will continue to just observe my dreams as they happen. I've met interesting characters whilst doing this as well. It has also prolonged my lucidity as I haven't been trying to control it and it's allowed me to get used to the feeling of being lucid.

Well then what's the point of having a lucid dream? The whole point is to be able to control it and do what you wan not what your mind wants you to do! I do think it's interesting what are dreams can play out for us but isn't that what regular dreams are for. I only get so many chances to be lucid and when I do I want to do what I want not what my subconscious wants to. I guess maybe it's just me.

Sometimes it's better to be directed, then it is to direct. Most transcending type of lucid experiences occur when the dreamer surrenders his control to a force greater then him. Plus, it might cause you to put more thought into things you do create, after you have a couple lucid dreams where you don't create anything. If anything it sure will give you perspective. Good luck and stay lucid.

StoneDreams- I understand where you are coming from but I did say at the end of my post doing this has actually helped me to increase lucidity and awareness. Plus it's not the same as a regular dream as I have more awareness and can consciously observe. I've had many lucid dreams where I control stuff and yes I do find these dreams more rewarding but allowing the dream to shift and change itself and to be able to consciously observe such changes is quite rewarding too.

TheObserver- Yes after having some of these dreams I feel very creative and have a few ideas of what I want to happen and how I can make it happen. I think one of the best parts of letting the dream unfold are the characters I meet. There are some really weird ones and some very wise and informative ones.

Life is about experience, and once you have done a lot in your lucid dreams you will realize that consciously reflecting in real time of the bizarre sitaution is as worthy of an experience as any other and can be very gratifying. You are restricting yourself too much, you have an entire life to have lucid dream, not every minute should have to be spent trying to accomplish something.
