      Was that a Lucid Dream?

Hey all, i'm trying to learn lucid dreaming, but i'm not getting the hang of it. Before I start, I want to know if i've had a lucid dream. So tell me if this was a lucid dream, or an average dream.

It was years ago, and I would frequently get a dream about watching a television. But in my dream, I did not see anything BUT the tv, so it was all black except the tv. I remember changing the channel on the TV. i would do something in my dream to change it, but im not sure what. I just remember wanting to change it and it would change. But i also remember NOT being able to change certain channels. weird.

I also have frequent dreams about ghosts and supernatural stuff, and it seems in the dream i'm controlling myself, like running, hiding, screaming, crying, etc. I've also woke up before in weird positions and crying.

Am I lucid dreaming? how can I lucid dream? I'm confused on dreaming..Thanks for reading and responding

A lucid dream is where you're aware you are dreaming. From what I can tell you we're not LDing.

You can have some control in a regular dream. The definition for a lucid dream is that you must know while you are in a dream that you are dreaming. So I'm sorry, but those TV dreams were just regular dreams with control.

Check out this Beginner's guide to lucid dreaming to get you started and then post your questions. Happy dreams

What you can do is when you go to bed, focus on that dream TV and tell yourself, "Next time I see that TV, I will question myself if I am dreaming or not" It might be a fairly easy way to accomplish a lucid dream.

As said above, since you were not aware it was a dream, it was just an ordinary dream.

As the other posters have said, Lucidity and dream control are not equivalents. You can have dream control without lucidity (Imagine having a dream that you are God but are still oblivious to the fact that you are dreaming) and lucidity without dream control (Many lucid dreamers struggle with this problem).
