Hey, I was just reading your thread from a while ago about keeping a waking journal to improve dream recall.
Are you familiar with PercyLucid's chest technique? It's a bedtime visualisation exercise that I've found really useful for clearing out daytime memories. I've written a guide that I can send you if you're interested.

ahh that's good to hear. I'm good, very stressed in some respects but meditation takes most of it away.
Still trying hard at sustaining my lucidity
It's always good to try think of others, plus how could I forget such an influential member

Ah very nice. Thanks. I also use an app but on my android device. I set it so that it would dismiss the alarm after a few seconds. That way I would not have to move when it went off and just go into DEILD mode. My problem was that during the shorter 8 min intervals. I would end up being too awake and not being able to go back to sleep in-between alarms. I am experimenting with some other stuff right now but I may have to revisit this soon. Maybe play with the times a bit.

Hey I just picked up on the fact you were using a timer method. From CL's post it looks like it could be similar to the one I tried for a few nights. I abandoned it because I was indeed exhausting. I actually forgot all about and it but to see someone having some success is intriguing. So, is it the one from lucidology or is it different? Do you mind sharing a link? Thanks.

Thanks for the Spirit Science you linked in a thread, MM This is really good.

Very nice! Congratulations on the lucid. It's interesting in the video that he was talking about general activation of the aminergic system as being the key. Things get really interesting when you start thinking about lucid dreams that occur during non-REM sleep (such as "white void" experiences.) In non-REM, acetylcholine levels are low, so it's interesting to speculate as to what's going on in one of those LDs. I've never had one of those, but it sounds amazing. Alyzarin had some really cool ideas on what might be going on in the brain there.

I hear you on the timer method. It sounds exhausting but really effective. If I can get myself into a situation where I can a) not wake up my wife and b) get enough sleep to make it practical, it sounds like a cool technique. I feel like Xanous also tried this once, and from what I recall it was the exhaustion that made it just too hard to keep up with.

I was intrigued by your latest DJ entry and since comments are broken (and apparently content to stay that way), wall-spam it is.

When you mention alarms activating the amingergic system, are you specifically thinking noradrenaline or another mechanism (serotonin)? I ask for a couple of reasons.

First, Xanous had success getting lucid with coffee during WBTB and I've followed suit on occasion, doing well with green tea. Caffeine has other effects on adenosine and the dopamine system that definitely help, but the fact that it raises catecholamine levels seems significant to me. Second, I've noticed that when practicing "sporadic awareness", it's helpful to give myself a little "pop" of awareness that's almost like a small bloom of adrenaline. And consider the rush of adrenaline when a reality check fails!

Overall, I'm interested in the idea that catecholamines can influence lucidity. I was wondering whether you were having similar thoughts about the timer method.

That's hilarious that you listened to "Learn to Fly" after your excellent flying session. I actually wound up singing that song in-dream when I was flying around the city. My vision blacked out and I wanted to remind myself what I was doing.

Suffice to say, Dave Grohl sings it better.
