He must be pretty busy, considering "Judgment Day" is every day.

I don't think it's really possible to get R/S completely back on track because only the atheists post here anymore. Come on Christians! Throw us some bones, give us some good arguments. Please though, nothing from John Lennox or Dinesh D'Souza; those two need to seriously be taken out of apologetics.

Anybody wants me to post some Kent Hovind? Wait, that's entertainment.

I'm finding it a bit ironic that even though everyone complained about forevertroll's spamming, now that he's gone we continue to have off-topic and senseless threads.

Well I'm no Christian, but I obviously disagree with Atheist in that I consider myself agnostic. I have said "I do not believe in God" before on this forum, and if I was forced to choose I would say there is no God, but I'm honest enough to say it's impossible to know at the same time. Until you are rotting you won't know. I suppose this is as close an arguement as anyone can expect now since this "lounge" has chewed up/swallowed/and shit out the Christians. I'll be happy to debate the relevance of Buddhism with anyone. Any takers? I will also point out that there is a discussion going right now in "Does God exist? Lawl again?" Maybe it would more productive to move all interested debaters and defenders of "all existance is chemical reactions and electrical potentials in an organ" to the other thread.

Don't throw pearls before swine, they say.

Enjoy your isolated forum, atheists. Make the excuse that we never grew backbones if you must, but dicks are still dicks. It's ironic, really, how angry and personal some "arguments" I found myself in (to name two: Mes Tarrent and Moonbeam for the life of them couldn't hold in their emotions at all. The rest of you were pretty cool and I respect that).

Also the constant anti-christian satire can be pretty funny, but it's also the bulk of threads. Atheists seem to like doing those so much, so they should enjoy doing nothing other than that from now on.

'Course I ain't speakin' for the rest of the Christians out there. Just going with what seems to be happening.

We don't want an isolated forum; we want debate. I think.

Also zeneyes, it's a common misconception to say that atheists say there isn't a god period. I definitely leave the option open that there is a god, I just don't think (or believe, whichever word suits) there is one and I live my life as if there isn't one. That's what an atheist is, as far as I know anyway. I'm sure there are many definitions from many different places, but this is exactly how Dawkins describes it and everyone knows that he is the god of the godless

I'd have to say that atheists leave the option of a God/Higher being existing, but they choose to believe that it doesn't. On the other hand, an anti-theist would believe there is no God/Higher being, and wouldn't leave any other options open.

No...Atheism is a belief, and it's a belief that there is no god. Or rather a lack of a belief in a god. That's what atheism is. That's why I brought up Agnosticsm. To be agnostic is to say "I don't know if there is a god, and I don't know if there isn't." To be agnostic, which is what everybody is whether they know it or not, is simply to be honest with oneself. Because God is something you find out about when you die, you cannot know until you are dead therefore you can be nothing but agnostic. However, you can chose to believe there is no God, just as you can chose to believe that there is, but either way you are believing that you own the truth. Unless you are agnostic. Between atheism and theism, the theist has the burden of proof since in this context there is a belief. In actuality both parties are believing something, and this is true because until you die there is no way to know with certainty.

The point is that Atheism is saying that there is no god. If you allow room that there may possibly be one, than you are saying you are agnostic.

getting R/S back in on religion? what you talking about? half the threads here really should belong to senseless banter as they aren't open to open discussion at all, but simply senseless nonsense bashing

      juroara,

as I have already replied to one post here, it seems there is much immaturity in this area of the forum. I would like to have a serious debate...but I'm new here, and I'm starting to believe that a serious debate is not possible do to maturity level.

when I first renounced christianity I was 18, I am not 28, so there is ten years of retrospect. I would go into Christian chat rooms (we didn't have forums back then) and I would get them all thinking that I was a Christian so that I could say "God is dead" and watch the reaction. I was immature. I was proud to be defining my existance with pure logic/reason, and it made me arrogant and condecending.

If all that is here is this type of egoistic rightism speak, with no room for the possibilty that maybe you are wrong, than I will not stay much longer. I have no reason to stay and debate with immaturity. All that is required is a small amount of humility. What could be more appropriate in a religion/spirituality thread? So I will hang out a little longer and hopefully some personalities searching for truth will emerge, in a word...seekers. In fact, on a forum devoted to LD's, it seems that spiritually minded people should be attracted. Afterall, if all you seek is some type of high, well there are many drugs you can do to ruin your life. Go get high on heroin if you want to reveal in pessimism!!! If you want to grow as a person than you have to allow room for it. To remain locked in your view of the world with no hope of expanding is to become stagnant. If your views are fatalistic in the worst sense of the word, than why bother with life at all.

This is a request for all interested to actually discuss/debate religion and the lack thereof, and the reasons why. All else can be absorbed from the quality vacuum that is the television.
