Have trouble falling asleep? Try this!

I found this article last night after I couldn't fall asleep and it worked for me under ten minutes!

Here is a link to the article.

      What a great find!

Following the index located on the bottom of your link, I actually learned a lot more about breathing myths I had been conditioned to believe.

      Thanks!

Actually I've come across this technique before but when I tried doing it, I didn't control the reduction of inhalation well enough so the air hunger occur really quickly and I found myself out of breathe and more awake than when I started!!

I'll give it another go tonight.

Sounds interesting, but I don't know if I really understand this technique or not.... Might give it a try tonight ;3

Looks like it isn't sleep, so much as passing out for lack of air.

Like lightofheaven I find this incredibly hard, I like just copying my breathing pattern of sleep. It's comfortable and gets me relaxed quick enough.

What's that pattern then? Is it the same for everyone?
My LDing record, if you want to hear about it, is about 4 WILDs, 1 DEILD, and the rest DILDs.

This is what I imagine when I try to breath for relaxation

I moderately take in slightly larger and slower breaths than normal, Imagine your breath is linked to the height of the wave, at the bottom and top you keep in or out your breath and in between you evenly take in or blow out air. It's quite hard to explain, can you visualize what I mean when you breath in a flowing action (sort of keeping in your breath at the peaks and then letting it out during the fall)

I did this before, trying to achieve WILD. I read an article which said that during Delta sleep we breathe less, and in that time I was a beginner and I thought that I had to go through all sleep stages to reach a WILD. So I thought that if during that stage we breathe less, why not doing that also consciously? And I started doing this for several days. The thing is that it happened the same as LightofHeaven, that each time I tried this technique then I couldn't sleep. Even if I was extremely tired, if I did this I couldn't sleep and even if I went back to my normal method (which is lay there until I fall asleep) I was waiting there for at least an hour. I guess that I payed too much attention and that kept me awake. Anyways, I will still try it and find what errors I'm making, and if I find them i'll post them.
