Why is it so hard/impossible for me to WILD?

I have several problems/questions. I would be very grateful to any WILDer who could tell me what I'm doing wrong :
      1) I wake up to turn my alarm off, and go right back to laying in the dark. I cannot get back to sleep laying on my back, thinking about whatever.
      2) What should I actually think about?
      3) What about the swallowing reflex? This may sound really horrid, but I have saliva running down the back of my throat. And when I do somehow forget about it, I remember soon enough and swallow anyway.
      4) I cannot ever get to complete frozen-ness of the limbs. can move them easy, but I always have like the tip of one finger completely numb. Why is this? I have once laid for at least an hour and never got frozen limbs
      5) What's Hypnogogic imagery like? Is it like when you close your eyes and press on them?
      6) I increasingly loose patience with it and give up, and go to sleep normally hoping for a DILD

Thank you haha I get frustrated sometimes. I've tried it every night for like, 3 weeks haha

You don't HAVE to lie on your back, whatever position you're comfortable in will suffice (The idea is to get into a position you wont want to move from, at least long enough where you can focus on your 'stay concious' technique.)

What to think about is a bit of a toughie. I'm pretty sure the less stray thoughts the better, my biggest success thus far has been to concentrate only on my MILD mantra strangely enough.. Though remember, I'm an amateur, have yet to succeed in a WILD (That wasn't a clever trick my mind played on me during a dream... *Grumble grumble*), and everyone has their own 'best technique'.

I'm having a hard time with the swallow reflex as well... Though sometimes if I treat it like an itch (I.e. ignore it and don't focus on it.) it WILL go away... But damned if it ain't hard t'do...

Personally, I've never even had too much limb numbness, even though I've been to the cusp of dreaming.

Well, i havn't wilded yet, but i have tried many times. I think a big thing is not thinking about worrying. Just make sure to relax. As i've heard from others, getting to sleep is the biggest part of wilding. So make sure to try to fall asleep. Don't stay so conscious that you can't fall asleep. Thats my advice. But i do get same problems. Well not all the same, but some.
Peter piper picked your pecker.... wait that's not right.
