      Hypnagogia advice

      Hey people,

I've always been aware of my Hypnagogia (sometimes I am aware of it in the day (audatory) while sculpting and am in deep concentration (anybody else experienced this phenomenom during the waking hours?))

ANYWAY, my main problem seems to be that I havn't found a way to really focus. (for a WILD) Everytime I try the majority of the time results in my mind wandering off, and then when I really try to focus my heart rate raises and then I am too alert!!

So what I was wondering was what techniques people use to help them keep focused?

      Many thanks in advance

      Moved to WILD forum.

I've found that just reciting lyrics, or even a prayer really helps to maintain focus when attempting WILD. My best results came from reciting the Hail Mary in my head over and over (suggested to me by the one and only mr. volont). I'm not religious or anything, it's just something that I could use since I remembered all the words. You can use anything, like I said, even just song lyrics. When the Hypnogogia really sets in, you will start hearing the song you are reciting in your head as though it is actually playing. At times I have almost been fooled into thinking I left the radio on, but then remembered that it must be a hallucination.

One thing to remember is that your hallucinations and lucid dream will be shaped from the words you are reciting...so choose your words carefully. Prayers usually result in amazing spiritual lucid dreams/astral projections. An eastern mantra would likely be similar.

Anyways...I hate numbers, so counting methods are not for me. This might work for you though. Good luck.

The waking-hours hypnogogic audio (and imagery) has happened to me. Once I listened to a jazz band (and watched skeletons play the trumpet). Yesterday it was guitar music. Then I realise that I'm listening to it and it goes away. Funny how quiet it sounds once it's gone... and it's so delicate. I only seem to hear it semi-consciously.
Anyway, I have a similar problem.
I'm going to try Aquanina's solution.
Hard as it may sound, I would try to remain only semi-consciously hearing it, if you know what I mean?
IDK, I'm not an expert in this area. I've probably given really rubbish advice. If so, sorry. Haha

      Thanks for the advice

However, I seem to be having more and more trouble WILDing now. It seems to me that I've always had this ability, but it comes and goes - so every few months I'll find it easier to induce one, or it would happen naturally throughout a period of 1 to 2 weeks but then nothing for the next couple of months. But now I'm trying to make a regular thing of it I'm finding it really difficult.

At the moment I've been trying to follow the visuals while repeating 'wake up, wake up, wake up...' but eventually this yields no results (I've also tried singing, picturing something in front of me, visualizing myself walking out of the house, spinning (which worked once but I can't get to work again) listening into audio sounds or looking into visual sights (I just end up falling asleep)

Does anybody have similar problems? does anybody have any other advice?

      Many thanks

I'd suggest starting a meditation routine as it can really help with staying focused and calming the mind chatter. Start with just 5 or 10 minutes a day and you can go up from there.

When you say mind chatter - do you mean conscious thought? because I don't really have a problem controlling my conscious thought (making my mind go blank), it's my sub-conscious which I can't get to grips with!!
