How do you shock yourself awake?

I've been struggling over a week to have another WILD. I had 4 after two weeks of trying and the last time I got close I woke myself up during a transition. Since then I haven't been able to get past SP without falling asleep.

After reading back on my WILD entries I remember my most effortless WILDs occurring after I have been shocked awake by an alarm or something similar.

I've tried cold water but it hasn't worked. I've stayed up for an hour and a half during WBTB and that also did not work.

Is there anything that can be used to obtain that shock awake state?

Either have someone abruptly wake you up at a certain time or set an alarm for a random time. Be sure the alarm is lout though and you might need someone else to set it so you're sure you don't know what time it's set for, that way you won't preemptively wake up. Other than that there isn't really anyway to shock yourself awake. Once you're up it doesn't really matter what you do since you're already awake whereas if you are forced awake you will be wide awake yet still sleepy.

I don't shock myself awake but what I will do is set an alarm and when I wake up just browse the internet for a little bit, go to the bathroom and maybe get a snack. You just have to make sure you don't do too much or you will be too awake to have a WILD. It varies from person to person on how long to stay awake but most seem to stay with about a half hour. That is too much for me personally but the point remains.

I can be awake from 5 minutes to 60 if my mind becomes really alert, and sometimes produce nothing.

I find the best WILDs occur when I'm in the middle of sleep and something wakes me from outside. My neighbors carport borders my bedroom wall so his early departures sometimes do wonders for me, even more so if he spends time talking to his wife outside or he has contractors working like he did recently.

It's the unexpected situation like that which works best for WILD, in my opinion. They always happen when you're really sleepy and can help you carry elements into your dream.

If the climate where you are is comfortable I might suggest leaving the window open once a week, see what happens.
