Hey Crashyy
The problem with sleep paralysis is that it have many meanings. The first meaning is the paralysation of the body that occurs during REM sleep in order to prevent you from acting out your dreams.
Another meaning is the experience peope have where they see alien, angels or monster and feel unable to move, in other words they think they are awake and feel that they aren't be able to move and that the things they see are either real or an hallucination in the waking state.
And the third usage of the term that is spreading like a virus on this site and that is the belief of sleep paralysis being a necessary step in the WILD induction. I am not exactly sure what people mean but I think there are many definitions of what that kind of sleep paralysis means.
But I think the main problem is that they think they can transition from sensations you get from relaxation, which they call and believe is sleep paralysis
However as you can see these can cause some confusion, but what you need to understand is that these have one thing in common.
They all occur when you already are dreaming! If you do wake up and feel paralysed and dream in the waking state then you have a sleep disorder that is called.. Sleep paralysis.
ARGHH!
Another problem is that people think that vibrations is sleep paralysis, NO the paralysation of the body happens when we dream so if you feel some mild or even kind of heavy vibrations when you relax, it's just a sign that the body is getting relaxed. If you the body truly was getting paralysed it would mean that you were dreaming and yeah let's just say that you would feel alot more sensations if you were in a dream.
You can actually go to bed right now, and have eyes open and read a book and have your legs still for a few minutes, and you will feel some vibrations, I am not kidding I do a WILD attempt every night and sometimes I can feel heavy vibrations after just a few seconds! Does this mean I am in Sleep paralysis or even dreaming? Well obviously not. The problem with this though is that beginners beat themself up and blame themself because they can't transition from what they think is sleep paralysis... Again if you are in sleep paralysis you are already dreaming, and sleep paralysation means the sensations you feel when you relax well then they try something very advanced.
Although this can help you understand thar you don't go from the relaxation stage to sleep paralysis to dreaming. You go from Relaxation to dreaming!
When you feel that you can't move or see aliens, angels or anything strange just become aware of that this is already a dream.
So if you feel any sensations like hearing a beeping sound for example, then put your awareness on it because you are then putting awareness on the dream!
You are now in both the dreaming state and waking state at the same time, in order to transition you need to put more awareness on the dreaming state so what you need to do is to stop focusing on your physical body! Which is one of the problems that arise when you focus on sleep paralysis and ask yourself (can I move and can I feel my body?) because you are by then focusing on the waking state. When you can hear the beep really loud you can take a chance and just get out of bed, in all of my DEILD attempts where I amplify these dreaming sensations I have realized that I have transitioned and are by then just dreaming that I am still in my bed.
Remember though if the sensations doesn't feel really strong then you are not very likely to be "fully" dreaming so just continue to relax, although if you want to give up the attempt and "feel" that you are awake, instead of getting up and performing reality check try this instead. Try to fall asleep normally, I don't know why but at some times I feel the sensations the moment I start to try to fall asleep.
And my wise quote for the day haha.. "You got to risk it to get the biscuit!"
It takes a little practise, but after some time you can actually just feel the shift in awareness, but start out by just taking the chance and catch the false awakening or rather the false failed WILD attempt.
Happy WILDing
