      My WILD journey

Minasan konnichiwa, I'm back from my unintentional 6 month hiatus from dream views and lucid dreaming. One reason why I stopped is cause I read some creepy pasta stories and I don't want them influencing my dreams. But that's not what this thread is about, this is about my journey to successfully having a WILD dream. I will be posting everyday in this thread about my progess until I reach my goal of having a successful WILD and get into Aincrad from sword art online. After that I might make a thread about my journey to the 100th floor. But I I'll think about that when I get there.

PS: any suggestions about anything I'm doing wrong in my journey to WILDing would be appreciated

      Day one: failed
      ***********
I went to bed at around 11:30 PM and set the alarm for 4:00 AM. The alarm woke me up at 4:00 and I laid in bed about to lay on my back to try to WILD, but I fell back asleep. I will try it again tonight. This is what I dreamed after I fell back asleep. My dream

      Day two: failure

I went to bed around 12:00 AM, set my alarm for 4:30 AM. I woke up at 4:30 and went to the bathroom with the light off. I went back to bed and laid there not moving, but after a bit, I started thinking about what if I saw the slender man in my dream. Or what if I ended up being in the game slender. So then I got an idea. I stuffed my headphones in my ears and listened to some music while I tried to WILD. Then I fell asleep

Good luck! I wish you well. I am commenting to keep track of your progress. Man I need to watch sword art online. Everyone here and IRL are telling me to.

      Hey jarjar.

Instead of seeing each night as a failure, which will after a couple of night make you subconsciously think that you can't succeed, start to observe the nights and find answers to both yourself and the method you are using. A method is a method because it is told to make you lucid dream right? So if you do everything correct you should a lucid dream. So identify the main things that you need to learn about the method and then observe your attempt to see if there is something that you need to work on.

But sometimes it might be tough and you begin to ask yourself is the method of your choosing really suitable for you? Does it depend on luck, does it depend on skill or would you rather use a induction that doesn't require you to stay still and instead make you lucid dream at will? Lol I am a lucid dream poet.

Even if you are not frustrated now, history indicates that if you see your attempts as a failure now, you will see yourself as a failure then.

I used to title my dream journal posts, no dreams remembered or no WILD this night, at first in the beggining as well and well I didn't learn from my attempts.

But then I started to analyze and I could instead name my posts: Earlier sleep equals more dreams! And I was happy of the fact that I had found a way to experience more vivid dreams, but most important of all I understood why. And even if some theories might not be correct, it's still helps you to get motivated and actively think about your practise.
My point here is that if I hadn't look for a way to learn in this attempt, I could have been frustrated of the fact that I didn't got lucid or something else, instead I choose to make each night a new lesson and the failures my teacher.

One good example for the power of analysation and positive thinking (from my early days) is this post:

      http://www.dreamviews.com/f15/if-you...ams-try-93005/

So frequent success comes from understanding, and most of that understanding can be found in your failures.

I hope that this motivates you to start seeing lucid dreaming as something you teach yourself rather than something you can get taught.

      Sweet dreams.

Good point mastermind. I had looked at my WILDs as a failure until a couple days ago. I realized that for the past 4 months I had had 6 WILDs. This is the end of my 6th month of LDing. I realized that I was actually doing really good with WILDs. More than 1 a month. Yeah, I have way more DILDs and tried just as hard for both, but I am still on good track. This raised my WILD confidence and I had a WILD yesterday and last night.

Never look at what you failed at, look at what you are good at.

      Just to add an analogy.

Don't look up a mountain that you climb and think about how far it is to the top. Take your time and look down and see how far you actually have come. Don't forget to look down on all the other mountains you have climbed before your current one, and gain stength and confidence from that.

I admire your willingness to look at the bright side of things, but failures show you where you went wrong. They teach you how not to do something. So I guess I slightly disagree, and I only say so because it needs to be said. Learn from your failures, don't ignore them.

Well when you are trying to WILD, you are effectively trying to fall asleep while conscious. Stay too conscious and you stay awake. Not enough and you fall asleep. An anchor is something that if you use it you keep that balance. People use counting or lights or images. I use my mantra. so I see WILDing as trying to find that perfect balance by getting just enough sleep until I perfect my anchor. Normally 5-6 hours gets you in the right mood. good luck. This is the method I use.

Good point. I do analyze my failures. I guess a Robinson aproach is better "keep moving forward!"

      Day three: Close?

I did the usual, went to bed at 11:30 PM and woke up at 4:30 AM. I went to the bathroom, and then I tried to play some music on my phone, but my phone took a while to work. Maybe the bright light from the phone woke me up enough that it would take a while for me to fall back asleep. After I finally got it to work, I laid on my back, closed my eyes, and started counting, 1, I am dreaming. 2, I am dreaming..... Once I got to the mid 100s I started losing count. I also saw weird colors. Somewhere around that time my whole body got really tense, and it got hard to take deep breaths, it was really weird. Eventually it went away. Once I got to 200, I stopped counting. After a while, I fell asleep

I find counting to be to distracting and intensive to work. what i do is, i'm pretending to be somewhat swimming. registering each stroke very closely. i find that this also helps with the weird feelings and sensations sinds i'm already thinking about weightlessness. bit it is a bit harder to keep consciousness.

      Day eight: my third attempt

I ended up missing a few days but I continued my WILD journey last night. I didn't succeed, but I found something interesting on another lucid dreaming site and learned something that I never thought about before. "The next time you WILD, lie the way you normally do, relax, and go to sleep." That's what I was doing wrong, I was always lying on my back, and when I got to sleep normally I lie on my side, that why I wasn't falling asleep. All I need to work on now, is finding something that will keep my mind awake. What do you people do to keep your mind awake?

I would recommend being more consistent with attempts. Doing it for a month will not be enough of a test run unless you try it a lot.

Thats a good one. I actually already did it the way i always sleep (side) and thought about doing it on my back. guess that's not the way.

Day 10 my fifth attempt: success?

I went to bed at around 11:30 AM and woke up at 5:00 AM even though I set my alarm for 4:30. I went to the bathroom, and then tried to WILD, but I couldnt seem to get in a comfortable position or fall asleep, so I stopped. After I fell asleep is where it gets interesting.

In my dream I was in my front yard standing next to a car, when three big dogs walked into the yard. I got on top of the car and then realized I was dreaming. I don't know why I realized I was dreaming, but I did. Then I tried to make a sword appear in my hand, but it didn't work.

All I remember after that was walking at night in a forest that reminded my of minecraft for some reason. There was a tall hill to the right. In the side of the hill was a small dark cave that looked like it was a lot bigger on the inside. It had a few candles in the entrance but other than that there was no light. Somehow I knew it was the shadow temple from ocarina of time. For some reason there were green poes floating around inside the "temple". I decided not to go in cause I knew it was a dream and that anything could happen in there.

For both dreams I did not remember anything about my waking life.
