      Damn the Air Conditioner

So I have been trying to attempt WILD and I've successfully reached the point where I successfully enter a dream but the sound of my air conditioner keeps getting to me and I keep coming out of the dream. Should I wait for a while longer? As the air conditioner never interrupts me when I sleep normally. Maybe I can get the focus off of it? Any help would be appreciated. It gets quite annoying at times.

Try to ignore as you would your physical body. Or turn it off.

Are you trying for the WILD at the beginning of your sleep cycle or after a few hours?

I find an air conditioner can be a helpful thing with WILD, particularly when doing a WBTB + WILD. It can lull you with the white noise towards sleep, which you need, but also can help you keep your attention anchored as you enter a dream.

You might also consider changing your sleep position for your WILD. If you're in a bed you could move your pillow to the other end, or even try it on a sofa or reclining chair (my favorite).

      Post back with more info.

Try imagining it is a cool thing in a dream. Use the idea to reinforce the concept that you are dreaming. When ever your mind notices the noise, believe that it is the sound of a gentle ocean storm, or the buzz a thousands of forest insects. Believe that the sound is inside the dream and your instincts will stop trying to pull you out of the dream.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

Its sort of like the rain. Sometimes the rain helps to lull me to sleep, sometimes it just is annoying, and I can't sleep.

You know how you can listen to someone without hearing everyone around you (unless your autistic or something, and I don't mean to offend anyone there), well use that same strategy, only listen to nothingness.

Its kind of hard to do, and it takes some practice, but once you get it down, the rain (or fan) will actually help you to sleep.

Edit: Oh! You mean WHEN your sleeping. Uhh, I guess I might as well leave this here for anyone who was wondering about this. And plus I spend a whole 2 minutes of my life typing it. And another two trying to find this .

      Anyways...

      Sweet dreams.

I'm trying it after almost 4-5 hours of sleep. Thanks! I think I'll try to look at it that way. I'll post back with the results tomorrow as its already daytime now

Thanks guys! I'm always surprised by how fast and helpful the people on this forum are! :') I'll try to use my imagination and use the sound as an aid to help me anchor my attention and I'll report back!
