Am I falling asleep with out realizing it when I try to WILD?

So still no luck on getting this to work and getting frustrated...feel if I can experience it once ill have an idea what to do but right now just feels like I am stumbling around in the dark.

I have started taking naps to since I read the are more likely to happen during naps. Well I laid down to try it today and felt like i was down for maybe 30 mins if that. Had no success so got frustrated and just said screw it ill get up. Well look at the clock as was out for 1 and half hours. I never felt like I didn't have awareness, but my wife tells me she heard me snoring a few times. I don't remember snoring and I don't remember falling asleep. To me felt like I was awake the whole time.

What the heck happened. Had a same thing happen yesterday when I laid down for a nap. It didn't work so I got up only to see i was out for 2 hours almost. Am I falling a sleep and not even realizing it?

If you are not falling asleep, you are not going to pull of a standard WILD. To be clear, you want to fall asleep. So, congrats! You fell asleep and perhaps stayed somewhat aware. The idea is to sleep. Snoring is a good sign you got that far. Staying aware does not mean a dream will form, but being aware AND asleep is step one. Now you need a dream to form. Keep going and do not get frustrated.

So what do I need to try to do to get a dream goingt? Because all I got was blackness.

I am only getting frustrated because I feel I am making no progression. I have read tons of tutorials and so far I seem to experience almost none of what they say you will more then likely experience. I would be happy with a few seconds, something to tell me you are doing it right. So far anything that has happened has felt like my imagination more them me dreaming.

If naps don't work for you, you should try WBTB with WILD
The point of WILD is to fall asleep but while keeping consciousness

And about that snoring part, it's possible that your body fell asleep for soome time but you weren't lucid because there was no dream for you to enter so no dream no lucid dream
      I'm back! Again? Uhhh..

Try reading the material in Sageous' DVA class. This is a bit of an art. Do you know the concept of an anchor? And if so, what are you doing with the idea?

Here's your problem. A nap should never last 2 hours. If it does, that means you're seriously sleep deprived. Sleep deprivation doesn't help with lucid dreaming unless you know exactly what you're doing. So you should fix your sleep schedule first.

Ok, I will get some normal sleep tonight and the next. I have tried the WBTB every night for a week and a half now. I didn't think my decline in success could be due to lack of sleep.

As for Sageous' DVA class I am pretty sure I read through them and really liked them but I can't remember what anchor is so maybe I should read them again. Is there a link that you could provide? I am searching for them but not having much luck.

      Here is sageouse's WILD

      Anchor:

It's something, that will keep your mind occupied, so you don't fall asleep into unconsious sleep. It will also keep you connected (anchored) to waking life, so you remember what you doing. It's easy to lose track of the fact that you are WILDing.

      Most common mantras are

      1. Phrase
This can be anything, that will remind you of what you doing. Short or long, it's up to you. It should sound good, feel good and have special meaning to you personally.
      "I'm dreaming"
"Next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming"
      are just 2 examples

      2. Counting
      Count from 1 up
      or from 100 down

If you lose your place, no worries, just start over or pick any number.
