Need other WILD entry techniques besides opening eyes.

Any help would be appreciated. I've spent numerous hours in aware sleep (more than I can count) in the last few months, but have never fully transitioned into a Lucid dream. I go through many levels of WILD progression very easily (body falling asleep, extreme relaxation / comfort, very focused thoughts, blotches of red moving around under my eyes, etc.) but I always either fail entry because I open my eyes and wake myself fully up not in a dream or I'm afraid to open my eyes after so much time fostering the right situation because I know, chances are, I'll wake up not in a dream and have to start over or call the morning a loss. Don't get me wrong... I've enjoyed this state very much. Time flies in it and it has plenty of interesting experiences with it. However I long to produce a WILD and it's getting frustrating. However I've spent so many hours in this state (hours feel like minutes) that I'm sure there have been times I was lucid while laying there and just never took advantage of it. I don't see many visuals so it's hard to use that as a guide. Most of them are blotches and red spots and if there is any type of scene it's usually very dark and hard to spot.

I've tried a few other things, like trying to will myself to sit up, will my arms up, will myself to rock back and forth, etc. This morning I was soooooooo close. I tried imagining myself rubbing my hands together and at one point I could tell it almost felt like I really was. Ironically that's when my alarm went off.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

PS - unrelated to this I did have my first WBTB DILD last night! At some point when trying to WIlD I fell into a full non lucid dream; during which I had a false awakening. As soon as I noticed I didn't own a big green canvas picture like the one I viewed from my bed to my hallway I got overly excited and lost it! Soooo frustrating but sooo cool to have some progress.

      Hi,

You don't need to open your eyes or do reality checks during WILD Attempt at all.
Sometimes it might be necessary yet in very rare cases i guess

I myself just put myself in my most comfortable sleeping position and perform the technique till i'il be in dream world
That's all there is to it.

There are two things that you need to do to successfully wild:
      - Fall Asleep
      - Retain Awareness
Without first one you won't be able to wild at all, no sleep = no dreams.
Second one is some technique that will keep your mind awake yet without disrupting too much your sleep
Disrupting your sleep will either result in falling asleep taking longer amount of time or not falling asleep at all.

If your lying for hours during your will attempt it might be that your trying wild technique at bed time or at time at which your not near rem phase?
You should perform technique with wbtb aka after around 4 - 8 hours of sleep or during naps (As long as you will be able to fall asleep and have dreams (Be near rem phase) it will be fine).
Quote from Mzzkc's WILD Guide about timing:

The first point is incredibly important and shouldn't be overlooked. While yes, it is possible to WILD before getting any sleep whatsoever, WILDs such as this won't last very long and the quality of the LD will be horrendous. Furthermore, it will take more than an hour to pull off, assuming you know what you're doing and won't mess up at all. Compare this to a WILD attempt after six or more hours of sleep, where REM is mere minutes away and may last a very long time.

      To compare:

WILD Without Prior Sleep: Poor quality, short, difficulty is next to impossible, takes over an hour to pull off.

WILD With Prior Sleep (Including Naps): Quality is what you make it, length is what you make it, takes no more than 15 minutes to pull off.

That's right, a successful WILD need not take more than 15 minutes to make the transition. If it's taking you longer than that (and you're definitely getting the right amount of prior sleep), you're probably having trouble with the next building block.
If timing is not the case and your doing wild either during naps or with wbtb then it might be just that your body is not falling asleep?
The balance during wilds can be quite weird, you want somekind of task that will keep your mind busy enough to keep you conscious yet not effortful to prevent you from sleeping?
They can be mental tasks or bodily tasks
      Example:
      - Counting - mental
      - Lying in weird position to induce pain - bodily
      - keeping eyes in choosen direction - bodily
      - visualizing - mental
      - singing - mental
      - daydreaming - mental
      - repeating mantra - mental
There's lots of it, yet you need to find one that will work for you

Also, don't bother with sensations that you might expirence during wild
They might happen but they don't need to happen
I myself rarely get any hypnagonic stuff
If i'il get it then it will just distract my mind

I'd suggest you reading up this stuff:

The experimenting during WILDs is one of best things you should do, even if tutorial says otherwise.
WILD is quite personal technique so it might be different for each person
That's why experimenting is important if you want to progress further with them
Example: If your unable to fall asleep with counting to 180 then try counting to 15
Counting to 15 keeps you fall asleep then how about 60?
      etc.

      And now Goodluck
If you have any other doubts or questions feel free to ask.

      Edit: About that wbtb dild
It might've been caused by wild attempt aswell
Sometimes failed wilds tend to result in successful dilds

When you become lucid first either because you wilded or dilded keep yourself calm and perform stabilization technique
Unfortunely to keep lucid dreams long we need to stabilize them first or maybe even later if they happen to destabilize
I suggest you reading up this stabilization guide: http://www.dreamviews.com/wiki/Dream...arity-Tutorial
