      was I in SP?

Hi, sorry if I sound like a noob but I just started at this a while ago

I have a some questions and any tips you can give me would be appreciated

I'll try to explain my process (btw I've only tried WILDing about 3 times now, so I don't know too much about it):

I start by getting into a comfortable position.
Then I do a relaxation technique (the 61 point one, except I've only gotten to 31 points)
That usually relaxes me on the spot, and I feel no need to move. I don't really have a problem with the keeping still part.
I start at one and count my breathes, after each count I say "I am dreaming", like in the tutorial.
I get to about 250-300, within every breath out I feel a small tingling sensation.
Depending on how tired I am I sometimes get some dreamish thoughts, a few seconds each. Sometimes I hear strange spacelike noises.
It doesn't take long until I get into that point where your eyes start to move (It's called HI, right?)
Once I reach that point my eyes start to move frantically, my heartbeat goes up by a lot, and I start to feel pretty intense quivering in my legs. I don't remember feeling too much heaviness, but may be I did.
Are you supposed to do something after that feeling fades. I tried imagining a dream body get up, and then roll out of bed. It didn't work. Then I touched an imaginary wall, in my head I saw myself get sucked into the point I was touching and it kind of felt that way too.
Nothing happened. It was a dark room so I didn't see anything, but it felt like my eyes were slightly open from the rapid movement. Does that stop the process?
Even though I go through that stage of fast heart rate and moving eyes my body doesn't really feel paralyzed. Was I in SP or not?

Oh, and do you have to do it after sleeping for a while? I know the tutorial said you did, but I figured I'd try just right when I go to bed. That's probably my problem, right?

Any tips for me or questions you could answer would be nice
I'm going to try again tonight (after sleeping for a while like the tutorial says you should)

While it is possible to have a WILD before, it's much harder than trying after sleep or during a nap. I doubt you were in SP, but I cannot say for sure, everyone has a different experience with SP. It would take you a long time to enter SP right when you go to bed, and from what I see you were just witnessing brief HI. If I were you I'd try it after around 4-6 hours of sleep, and try to WILD then. It's a pain in the ass to wake up and do that but trust me, it's much easier. Or you could wake up earlier than usual and around 1 or 2 try and have a Nap WILD.

Cool, you just answered a question I had and was just about to ask.
And I've tried the same thing (theres no way in hell I'm waking up in the middle of the night so I decided to do what your doing and just do it in my sleep) but I can't get comfortable enough. Then sometimes I start to loose feeling in my legs a little bit and feel a little heavy like it's about to work (And also kind of what you mentioned) but then out of no where I have the sudden feeling like I canNOT stand to stay still for any longer and I just HAVE to move so I do then it gets all screwed up.

When you get that urge to move it means your body is trying to see if your mind is awake, while it can be unbearable, it's best to resist the urge and not move. You should enter SP afterwards.

I tried again this morning but it was weird. It was a couple hours before school, I got comfortable and then started my relaxing technique. I was listening to the ocean on my ipod to calm me and set a timer for it to go off. After a while I had to quit because my mouth was just SO dry. I looked at the clock and it was exactly time to go to school! I looked on the timer on my iPod and only 20 minutes had passed! It's like time skipped me entirely!

Cna you help me out and give me some tips about WILDing when napping? I think I may have a better chance doing it during the day, and if I get an answer before bed I'll probably try again today. If your napping do you still have to sleep for a while first, or can you go right into it?

So once the first lash of HI passes me should I continue counting breathes and wait for another HI or SP?

      Hey jaded,

      Here's how I sleep.

Get a comfortable pillow that supports, like a memory form pillow so you can rest your neck slightly angled, yet still comfortable.

I lie on my back, with my legs staight out in front of me and my hands down by my waist naturally, as you would stand in a wedding. My arm curves comfortable and my left hand is on top of my right.

I can stay in that position forever.

Thanks, I'll try that today if I get the chance to nap before bed ^^! I haven't tried it yet but I've heard that SP and HI come easier on your back :p

      Well here's what I do.

I play a simple scene I have already made up during the day. I can easily get it right.
I repeatedly imagine it over and over and over again as I go to sleep. Subconsciously i'll enter it.
If I ever wake up in the middle of the night, i'll do it again. You wake up many times during that night that you don't remember.

Would a beach or something work? Should there be people in the location?

I've tried to imagine a location, but it's not that vivid and I haven't gotten to the point where people say you should be able to "jump into it" after SP yet.

well, i'm on of many Avatar nerds you'll find on the site.

I just thought of a simple scene I remembered very well. Just two people in it, very little dialogue.

Think of a picture you've seen or a movie you'd like to be in!

kk. So do you go through SP as well? If so how many HIs to you go through before getting to it? Oh, and maybe you could help me with a problem I'm having. I almost constantly feel the need to swollow when starting to WILD, it's distracting! It didn't happen to me the first time, so it was a lot easier XD!

Don't open your mouth near as wide, and have your tongue in front of the back of your throat.

I never get HI. Some do, some dont.

Don't focus on the swallowing. It'll naturally happen if it's absolutely needed. Then dont focus, just let it pass.

Once you feel the HI (actually things you see on the back of your eyelids; your eyes moving are just... your eyes moving! They do that during REM...) just keep relaxing further and further. Once you don't feel any more vibrations/feelings/etc, roll out of bed or do whatever exit technique.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

From personal experience, swallowing is a pain in the ass, I used to think I couldn't possibly WILD cause the urge to swallow was too much. Rest your tongue at the roof of your mouth, that will help a little. Propping your head up will make it easier too. But regardless, you probably will swallow, if you get the urge, just swallow, don't fight it cause it will destroy your concentration, just let happen and you'll be fine.

Okay I may need further help, thanks, you guys are getting me a lot further ^^!

I just tried again for one of the nap-type WILDS. Didn't work. I was up there for about half an hour without moving at all, but my family was watching a movie downstairs and it distracted me too much -.-'. Also I kept drifting into the beginning of non-lucid dreams, which hasn't happened to me any other time 0.o

Thanks Demara, but after I get past a wave of HI (which for some reason didn't happen when I tried just like, 10 mins ago) I think I'm either awakened or something. I don't enter SP, I tried an exit technique but it didn't work !

Xyster, thanks I put the toungue to the roof of my mouth to try it and even though I'm not trying right now it seems to help! Should you be encouraging the HI at all? Like I think I saw a glimpse of it, but I was trying to count breathes. If I see it should I stop counting breathes and concentrate more on HI?

Thanks in advance. I want so bady to enter SP so I may LD, I'll try anything XD!

Just keep replaying the scene of where you'd like to go. Doesn't work with a still picture for me. Must be animated.

HI is more like an added bonus, some people experience HI when they try to WILD, others, such as myself, do not. If you see HI and you're counting breaths, keep counting, don't get too distracted by the scenes. If you want to try, you could stop counting and watch the HI, focus a little without waking yourself up and try to control the HI, you might enter a dream that way. What works for you may not work for other people, that's why it's best to try out whatever you can, eventually you'll find whatever suites you. If you're certain you're seeing HI, I recommend a WILD method that involves the use of HI.

I was unable to recall anything last night. I had trouble focusing to replay the scene. My mind was going insane.

I can't stand napping. Especially after 7 hours in school!

I had no dream recall last night.

I haven't had dream recall for about a week now ! I have to wake up for school, my Mom usually wakes me up and does it in a way that TOTALLY ruins my concentration. I say I'm concentrating and she teases me and says "concentrating on what, falling back asleep instead of school?" It's becoming very difficult to recall !
