    DEILD? DILD? "Phasework"

    by , 12-19-2014 at 01:29 AM (508 Views)
After resting aware for approximately an hour, roll over and decide to fall asleep. I wake up in darkness and decide to try some of Michael Raduga's tricks from "The Phase." I begin imagining my body spinning around and holy WTF I start spinning around! I spin myself faster and faster. I switch it up and change to imagining myself swimming. I swim and swim, then spin again. I feel I am spinning too fast, however (begin to feel sick), and drag my hand hard to come to a stop. A weird FA. I "wake up" in the dark room. My wife sits up in bed, and tells me I need to go to sleep, as I will be tired in the morning otherwise. I try to answer, but it is very hard for me to talk. I just motion and make some Chewbacca noises. I then say, "I love you," but it comes out like zombie talk. I wake up a moment later.

      Ah! Good job!

Nice to hear that more people are trying and getting amazing results with the technique! It's the single best technique that I have ever tried - not quite like the original DEILD...
Reading your DJ it's not clear if you actually fell asleep, then woke in bed and did the spinning or just deeply relaxed and did it.
Can you tell or you are not sure yourself?

BTW your low level dream quality - slow speech etc - was most likely due to timing - first sleep cycle. When done after WBTB, quality is quite high!

Thanks for the comment, Searcher! I drifted off and then woke up again after about 40 minutes of sleep. Checked my watch What I'm not sure about is whether or not I was still sleeping when I "woke up," or if I transitioned as I performed the technique.

Ok, then it was a proper "phase" session!
Regarding whether it is a FA or a real one, I agree that you cannot always tell. You need a RC before anything else - but then if it's a real one, you ruin the attempt. On the other hand, doing the "phase" technique is effective either way - so it's a win-win!

Very interesting and inspiring, ThreeCat! Now I *gotta* try this! Really interesting that you got lucid so early, how many other *ILDs have you had at that time? I'm pretty sure my count is zero, I don't think I've ever gotten lucid before about 4-5 hours of sleep. I've recalled some good dreams in the early cycles, but only when I'm actively waking after every cycle.

Of course, it seems like you're lucid every time you sleep, so ... anyway, still interested in trying it!

I don't get many LDs in the first session of the night. It always happens when I have a difficult time falling asleep. Often, if I can't sleep, I will slam some melatonin (lol) and force myself under. Usually results in an LD, or some other weird sleep phenomenon. This night I just had a hard time going to bed, and woke up after a bit.

When I have time off from work, I am a lot more successful. A normal work week involves about one spontaneous LD (if I am lucky), and then I can focus my efforts on the weekend (which is usually more productive).
