I've had it fail a few times. I know the reason for it was because of overdoing them during the day. After backing off the nose pinching a bit it started working fine again. I always inhale when I do them by the way. |

Any reality check can fail to work properly in a dream. This is why it is best to use two different methods. One time I thought I was dreaming, so I tried to fly. But I gravity seemed to be working normally. So I did the nose pinch test, and it confirmed that I was indeed dreaming. |

What happened to me in a dream was that I was in school teaching a friend about the finger-through-hand RC, but my finger didn't go through my hand, so I was sure that I was awake, then I woke up and was like, "CRAP! WHY DID IT FAIL???" So yeah. Any explanation for that? How can I do it right? |

Its best to never be sure that your awake only be sure that your awake after you RC. That way if an RC fails you can still become lucid later. Just find the RCs that work the best and do multiple ones everytime. |

I had this fail the opposite way this morning. I was tired after waking up (but definitely awake), so I rolled over and closed my eyes again. Then I thought I should at least do an RC, so I breathed in through my nose, and was able to! For a split second I got all excited that I was in a dream, then I realized "No, you didn't actually plug your nose first, genius." |

This is so funny that this post came up because I experienced the same thing last night and the night before. Two nights ago I was walking with a couple of Rabbis in glistening snow with pine trees everywhere and I ask myself if I'm dreaming. I do the nose plug check and I can't breathe through, so I don't become lucid. Haha. I was so pissed . |
