This is just a guess so take it with a grain of salt, but...

If you were to abruptly wake up from a lucid dream, in an unnatural way, there's a chance you could enter SP. Saying that, if you know what you're doing and the conditions are right, you could possibly have an OBE.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I think he means while still in a dream. I was talking to a guy I met last night who said he has done this but I dont know from personal experience. I imagine it would be hard to tell if it was just a dream or if you realy projected

It would definitely be difficult to tell, since the nature of lucid dreams and OBEs are rather similar. Again, I don't have much knowledge of the topic so...

Depends on your definition of astral projection. If you define it as actually projecting your astral body out from your physical one, then I'm gonna say...maybe. But if you define it as a special kind of lucid dream with certain requirements (i.e. silver thread) then definitely.

they say dreaming, lucid dreaming, and astral projection are all the same, just at different levels of consciouseness. so i was wondering can you ascend to a higher level from lucid to projection.

Well, I don't see why not. It's certainly worth a shot. I'm no expert on the matter, mind you, but yeah, go for it. You've got nothing to lose.

I have had lucid dreams that I believe were spiritually transcendent however my singular experience with astral projection was a much more basic (and quite frightening) experience. I left my RL (real life) bed, went down the RL hall, entered my RL bathroom and looked in my RL mirror. There was no one there. This was distincly different then any lucid dream I have ever had. It is not beyond reason to think an LD, which is itself an altered consciousness, could lead to an astral projection experience but I have never had an LD that did. Good luck to you!

I can't say if astral projection is real, I can't tell you if you can astral project from a dream.

But I will tell you the two times I've tried to astral project from a lucid dream, my "dream" became so life like, vivid, and solid it was amazing! The effect was the same as performing a WILD - while already in a dream! Which some people believe is astral projection. Don't know. But the experience is still pretty awesome.

      In my opinion: Absolutely!

Amazon.com: Mastering Astral Projection: 90-day Guide to Out-of-Body Experience (9780738704678): Robert Bruce, Brian Mercer: Books

While this book is a good tutorial on many concepts behind AP'ing, the big concept behind it is turning a WILD into an AP. He recommends many times that you do similar things that we often advocate for LDs (Fasting, meditation, cycle adjustment etc...), and even mentions LDs in the book. I'm not saying this to say buy the book (You can if you want), but more that Robert Bruce being well versed in AP 'ing talking about it speaks a lot about being able to do it.

With the LDs I have had, I have also had 5 OOBEs, and one of them was in a very vivid WBTB that I attempted. I slept for 4.5 hours, meditated for 30 minutes, and just got back in bed for another 30 minutes thinking about APing instead of lucid dreaming for once to see where I would go. I had an LD, and one of his tips about transitioning out of it popped into my head while I was dreaming, and I could feel myself slip out of my body. I'm not one to argue whether or not you actually do, but that the feeling of doing that is different from having a lucid dream.

It was quite the surreal experience.
