      My theory on MILD

As we know, MILD is based on repeating a mantra before falling asleep. But, after using it for a while, it becomes something 'standard'. You start doing it autimatically without thinking bout it too much. However, this is against the purpose of the mantra. So that begs the question: 'how to keep using MILD without it becoming standard and automatic?' So this is what I thought of: using TWO mantra's. You don't use them 1-2-1-2-1-2..., u use them in a random order. By doing that, you keep thinking about the mantras and it would be nearly impossible to do it 'automaticly', as you need to keep randomly switching between them.

What are your thoughts on this? I'm currently trying this method. Feel free to test this theory. Whether it's any good for you or not, please post it

It would probably work better, but 2 random phrases can be randomly alternated between pretty absentmindedly too, once you get used to it.

Srry bout not replying in the past few days, I've been pretty busy. It did in fact work. When I was using 1 mantra, I haven't had a LD or a chance at LD for about 20 days. Since I've started using this, I've had about 3 LD-chances (missed them all, but that'll change). It is possible to randomly switch between them absentmindly, but it's definitely harder than to use 1 at the time absentmindedly. Guess I can't escape working for my LD's

The purpose of MILD is to hold your mind on the intention to have a lucid dream. Mantras need not have any part in that, and often lead to the sorts of problems you're running into. It's just the thought. You don't even need to have it so specifically verbalized.

      3. Focus your intent
While returning to sleep, concentrate single-mindedly on your intention to remember to recognize that you’re dreaming. Tell yourself: “Next time I’m dreaming, I want to remember I’m dreaming.” Really try to feel that you mean it. Narrow your thoughts to this idea alone. If you find yourself thinking about anything else, just let go of these thoughts and bring your mind back to your intention to remember.

      4. See yourself becoming lucid
At the same time, imagine that you are back in the dream from which you have just awakened, but this time you recognize that it is a dream. Find a dreamsign in the experience; when you see it say to yourself: “I’m dreaming!” and continue your fantasy. For example, you might decide that when you are lucid you want to fly. In that case, imagine yourself taking off and flying as soon as you come to the point in your fantasy that you “realize” you are dreaming.

      5. Repeat
Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until your intention is set, then let yourself fall asleep. If, while falling asleep, you find yourself thinking of anything else, repeat the procedure so that the last thing in your mind before falling asleep is your intention to remember to recognize the next time you are dreaming.

Whenever I MILD I don't use a set mantra. I use many sayings, and sometimes I'll use a saying I haven't even thought of before it'll just come to me in the moment. My favorite sayings are directed to my subconscious such as: "My subconscious will help me to lucid dream" "My subconscious will present me with many dream signs" "My subconscious enjoys lucid dreaming" etc. The first night I used these I had 3 lucids. Try different things to see what works for you. And as Supernova already stated, the key is to have the intention of lucid dreaming the very last thing on your mind before sleeping.

I don't use a set mantra either. I say multiple ones differently every night
      From my rotting body,
      flowers shall grow
      and I am in them
      and that is eternity.

I've recently been trying MILD, I used a mantra and intentionally started thinking it absentmindedly while
letting the rest of my mind wander. I thought that was what you were supposed to do but it hasn't worked.
That explains it . I'm going to try what LikesToTrip and SuperNova suggest
      Thanks guys
