      Cool Whats your RC?

I'm very new to this, but it sounds so amazing I will eventually get this down. But im trying to find a good RC to do. Was thinking maybe a phone backround picture with some text. But what works good for you guys?

I used to use a finger pull technique, where I try to pull my finger and if it stretches I'm dreaming, but I've since switched techniques.
The RC I use now is the noseplug test. I plug my nose and see if I can breath. If I can, I'm dreaming.

I use the noseplug, analyzing your hands, sticking finger through hand, and thinking about what I did earlier in the day when I'm trying not to move. Use atleast two at a time.

All day awareness and looking at patterns, looking away, then looking back to see if the patterns changed.

Note: Finger/hand through hand failed for me, my hand did NOT go through my other hand. Instead I felt a big power rush with a tingling sensation which swept through my body.

Nose-plug, then finger-count. The finger-through-palm RC tends to fail more often, so I wouldn't rely primarily on that one.

I also pay close attention to what's around me, how gravity's affecting me, and if anything looks "off".

      1. Finger through palm. (If it goes through, I'll know I'm dreaming.

      2. Plug nose and try breathing. (If I can breathe, I'm dreaming)

      3. All Day Awareness (Refer to Naiya's and KingYoshi's post in the same board for more info)

      4. Question: Why do I think I'm not dreaming?
Do some RC's if they fail, that's an answer.
Check your surroundings very closely, and see if anything is off or not. That's an answer.
Do the lights work normally? That's an answer.
See if you can remember where you were before this and what you were doing. That's an answer.

This is more effective than the question: Am I dreaming? Because dreams and waking life both feel so real.

      5. (I'm actually going to start doing this myself, see if I get any results)
If you're a person who loves fantasy stuff like magic and spells and what not then you won't feel totally stupid doing it.

If you're by yourself (to not get embarresed) pick a word that you can associate with a image or action. For example, Brisingr means fire, and if you've seen the Eragon movie you can picture Eragon yelling this and having fire appear.
Apply this to yourself. Say it with the belief that there WILL be a fire. If nothing happens chances are you're not dreaming, but if it does...ding! (Note: I can't say this is a sure fire method so if you do this make sure you do it along with other, more widely practiced RC's)

Yurp. That's all I got. xD

Hahaha, keep trying bro! I've only had one semi-lucid dream so far but it only lasted for a few moments.
Let's both try our best. We'll get there soon. =]

I tend to do finger counting a lot. My nose is always stuffy and it's often harder to breathe for some reason so I don't use the nose plug RC unless I really really think I'm dreaming, or as a second reality check. Everyone is different I guess. I have recently started to use the finger through palm RC but I'll ditch it since everyone said it fails a lot. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Don't ditch it! Just don't make it the only RC you use.
The more RC's you do, the higher the chance you have of realizing. At least that's what I believe.

#1 is always the Nose Plug. Usually though I follow up with putting a finger through my other hands palms. If you've never done it its...weird. It feels like your hand is jelly.

Very occasionally do I ever use the Look at the time then away then back at it. In fact I don't ever use that as an RC per se, that's just something I've come to notice in dreams and then proceed to the nose plug.

pinching nose and attempting to breathe is utterly infallible.

nose plug like everyone else....I don't usually see the point of them I just sort of seriously consider if I'm dreaming, I say "I am dreaming" and then look around, RC and then confirm if I am dreaming or not. Usually in dreams, you question reality then the RC is to confirm it or not

Nose plug and just questioning reality.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Yeah... I do RCs to test if I'm awake, and also so I don't forget what they are - if I go long enough without using them, I won't remember what the types of RCs even are!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I usually reverse time as an RC.
Or I look at myself in the 3rd person.

Both are dead giveaways that I'm dreaming and I become fully lucid.

Use basic dream control - expect time to be reversed, and things to go backwards. Expect to see yourself in third person, from a different viewpoint. If things don't reverse or you can't see yourself in third person, you're not dreaming. But I'd couple this with another, more reliable RC such as the nose-plug, because dream control can sometimes not be very good or fail.

Yeah, nose plug is my main RC. (Not that I can particularly confirm it's effectiveness but since everyone says so...xD)
      Thanks again Puffin. =P

I've actually never tried any other RC's, those are the ones I've always done naturally.
