People will always look for an easy way out of things. Why should you? Just because lucid dreaming takes effort and you can't simple pop a pill doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it.

I would not use an instant lucidity pill even if it existed. It's not needed and there is no reason to spend money on a free activity.

When they do manage to generate it, this is what they will write about it:

Make lucid dream easy to achieve, and it will remove everything that is special about it.

      Sha-bam!
(I have no affiliation with this and highly doubt that it works as advertised.)
It does have Galantamine in it though.

That, my anonymous friend, would be the most powerful drug known to man. It would end society as we know it as we would all prefer to live in a virtual world of our own making.

You do know that dreaming is purely the product of chemicals, right? And, specifically, DMT; produced in your pineal gland. Also a controlled substance.

The drug would probably have some super dangerous side effects, such as not being able to tell reality from dream.

Sir Realist is quite the realist. I was about to comment about DMT but after reading through the thread, someone beat me to the punch. Kudos.

DMT basically allows you to dream while awake. However, you don't experience any lucidity (unless someone has evidence showing otherwise?) but rather just "dream."

I'm not about to claim any first hand knowledge, but I do believe it is actually more of a lucid, ''other-worldy'' experience, kind of a combination of an OBE and a more rigidly structured Lucid Dream. It would also only last a very short time - Although, this far down the rabbit hole, what is time?

I saw a documentary that had a part about some tribe that lives in the Amazon. The "holy dude that talks to spirits" guy would snort a natural substance that contained DMT, and then he would "communicate with the spirits." So, as you said, it would be more rigidly structured, but I still don't believe it is a true lucid dream. I believe that your expectations, like in lucid dreams, influence what you experience while under the effects of DMT. This holy dude expected to meet with spirits after snorting the substance (he was unaware that it was DMT), and so he did. I believe many people that use DMT and have a "bad trip" do so because they've heard about bad trips and thus subconsciously expect that they too with have one.

That's my take on it anyway. I won't include any "experiments" (read: stories) that I've heard first-hand though.

Edit: On another note, does anyone know how someone could basically "make" their own lucid dream drug containing the same things as in that one linked earlier in the thread? Would it be possible to find the ingredients in a powder form, measure them out, and mix it with water or something? I'm interested in trying something like that (the linked pill), but I don't want to order it off the internet only to find out that it doesn't work as they claim. I'm expecting it to improve dreams, but not as dramatically as advertised.

Think I PM'd you that last reply, slurry? or maybe it was lost to the dephs of the internet; I havn't been here in ages, i forget how it works.

I basically directed him towards Terrence Mckenna, my favouruite scientist/philosopher/wreckhead genius, and DMT: The spirit molecule.

And yes, that wouldn't be very hard at all, slurry. I could possbly point you to some specific websites if you like.

Edit: I have a feeling I deleted it rather than sent it to slurry, so i'll readdress your post anyway.

You're probably right in saying that it isn't a true Lucid Dream. However, if I were to entertain such ideas, I might suggest that it be a deeper, or different, level of... consciousness, I suppose. Some of the experiences of the aforementioned Terrence McKenna, mainly with DMT, are really interesting though. Experiences from many people from all over the world often report very similar things, i.e. beings - 'mechanical' of 'machineklike elves', McKenna calls them I believe - that either impart knowledge, or playfully tease in some kind of alternate reality. I take this all with a pinch of salt, of course, but the coincidences are really startling, and this phenomenon, indubitably invoked by this chemical, DMT, is possibly far more profound than any of us can fathom. Man, I'm baked.

Nope, no PMs received. The Internet ate it for dinner.

I know a lot about DMT, yet at the same time not a lot. It's quite an interesting substance, that's for sure. I'll check out McKenna and see what he's got on the subject.

Also, I would greatly appreciate it if you could direct me somewhere. I've always been interested in experimenting with dream aids, like melatonin supplement pills and such. I just never have because I've always abhorred the idea of paying money for something that I could buy/make myself for much cheaper. At least I'd hope it'd be cheaper to do myself.

There are literally hundreds of ethnobotoncal websites like this. Searching 'Entheogenic' will often help you find others. Do some reasearch in order to not get ripped'.

I don't dream for sh*t anymore. Never lucid. I should really get back into it! I'm so passionate about it when I remember!!

I was more interesting in something along the lines of this, where I would get the ingredients (calcium pantothenate, Lycoris radiata extract, etc.) and make the substance myself. I wasn't talking about psychoactive plants as you linked me to.

Edit: We should probably take this to PM, as this is getting rather off-topic.

A drug that works on the part of the brain responsible for logic and awareness, specifically in a dream... Now I could get my head around that.

But I'm happy with the current methods I use, and probably wouldn't go for it. After all, it would probably take away the satisfaction that you worked hard for that lucid, and then you can't savor it as much.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
